OCD post alert....I admit it...

I hate door debts. Like really hate. 99% of time, I park where it almost has zero chance of happening.

But...on occasion...I have no choice but to park in a lot next to other cars.

I believe by getting truck up as high as possible in those situations, I minimize the likelihood of a car next to me getting metal door instead of the cladding beneath it, which won't dent.(this happens to be a pro-tip too)

However....using this mode is contrary to my wife ease of exit and reentry....so highly discouraged from the passenger seat.

So...how about a door dent reduction mode.

Upon putting truck in park...go to squat lowest position. One doors are closed and truck is locked, move to highest position. Once doors are unlocked, back to the lowest position.

I know I am crazy...but thinking outside the box here.....

I’m like it! I avoid shopping centers, grocery stores like the plague. But if the R1T/R1S is your daily driver…unavoidable. Some side steps or running boards etc from Rivian would also help deter unwanted dents…hopefully they (or someone) develop some soon.

This is one area where the upcoming Cybertruck shines. With a 3mm thick (roughly 1/8th of an inch, roughly 2 quarters stacked together) SS skin the body will repel virtually all door ding encounters in parking lots.

I think my fear has been enhanced by my own early error into a metal pole at an Electrify America station (pro-tip 2....watch out for those things....they are sneaky). Luckily Dent Doctors were able to fix my error! But it did point out that the aluminum on the doors is pretty susceptible to dings.

Yup I am always worried about door dings as well. It will just bother me knowing it's there even if it can barely be seen.

I always try to hard at the back of the lot away from everyone and find a corner spot if possible but some jackass always will park right next to me and be over the line into my spot. I've even had people slam their door into my car WHILE I WAS SITTING INSIDE. Really hate how nobody seems to care about someone's property.

Glad I wasn't the only one putting it in off road mode when I park! Haha!

I'm worried about door dings because it appears the metal is thinner than other vehicles. If you look down the line of the car at the right angle I see waviness and imperfections. I took a look at a few vehicles at the service center and they all exhibit the same issue.
