I would definitely crash but luckily I was able to finally line up a test drive in a couple of weeks, so I'll let them have their fun without me :)
How did you line up a test drive? I want a test drive…

Did anyone with an R1S preorder get the invite? It's possible they limited it to early R1T preorders. The guy I know didn't get the invite either and is R1S.

Registered for all the events for past 2 years and everything else Rivian has had to register for to at least see the truck(s)., everything except $1,000 deposit as only want to do that if I actually like and will buy the vehicle (not a buy and return or backout kind of person).

Where did this come from and what did you have to register to get the invite? It sounds like the exact event I have been complaining about they so have not been able to do.

Can make the event and would like to go to it.

Thanks
Rick

It’s good that you’re following RIVIAN and considering a vehicle. But I think they’re focusing on test drives and events for preorder holders first. They are planning to open test drives to the general public in the future as far as I know. Things might have changed though seeing as how most preorder holders still haven’t even had a chance to test drive one or actually see one in person. Hope they start letting people walk in and drive one soon.

Spoken like a Manitoban. Hey I grew up in Saskatchewan so thanks for the laugh.

Look, I didn’t have this kind of an issue with buying my Dodge Viper, not my Aston Martin nor our Genesis GV70 (10th one delivers in the US last year) we bought last year. Rivian is a lifestyle brand. For those of us that buy like that, it should not be even remotely this hard to just see the vehicle beforehand.

Not going to put deposit out unless we are prepared to go through with it if we like it. I have zero issue with deposit if $1,000 or $5,000. The deposit money is not the issue for me.

The problem is, it literally is that hard. A certain amount of blind faith will apply with this brand for a little while longer.

Sincerest condolences, I lived in Regina for 7.5 years.

I put a deposit on the opportunity to order a rivian(since that’s all the preorder is) on the basis of it being refundable, and that I’d get to probably see one in person before actually buying. But I’ve never been able to test drive a representative example of any car I‘ve ordered new(we’re not talking anything so fancy as a viper or an Aston or even a GV70), as they weren’t available.

I did manage to drive an R1T in California in November. Absolutely lives up to all the hype.

I get that, but after just vaporizing a $3,000 deposit in 2019 for a Saleen S1 to never get a refund back as the Car will never see the light of day. I just can’t do it unless I see it, sit in it and if possible even get a test ride. I just can’t bring myself to do it if you know what I mean.

Found this on Facebook and thought it was interesting. Haven't seen any events like this before at other locations.

Unfortunately, I did not receive the invite.

Rick, I can understand where you're coming from but the Saleen debacle and Rivian are not at all comparable, for a number of reasons. At this point, it's going to be a long wait for you to get a test drive and an even longer wait in the reservation queue once you decide you absolutely love it and put down a deposit. Not to mention that prices will continue to rise so better to use your refundable deposit to hedge against a price increase.
