Can you disable the entrapment button in the truck bed? If you don't have a tonneau cover, the button shouldn't be needed. The spare tire area can't hold anything of value if someone can just drop the tailgate by pressing the entrapment button.

You can disconnect it but it gives you an error message in the truck to warn you of the entrapment risk.

Disconnect it, measure the resistance between pins, plug in a resistor of that value, tape it up, Bob's your uncle.

I tested this yesterday just to see how secure my bed storage was, and you can press the entrapment button and get at anything in your bed storage (camping gear my case) and the truck doesn't send a push notification to your phone or app, which to me is disappointing, but I suppose for those using a rivian to kidnap, makes sense.

I had several tool bags in the spare tire area and was surprised at how easily someone can steal them. This space is massive and a shame that I can’t store anything of value in it.

The button is not too difficult to disable to prevent this from happening

don’t disconnect it, disable it
Can you do that without ruining the button or ruining the waterproofness of it? Maybe you didn't read the full thing I wrote but it essentially makes the truck think the button is still functioning, but it isn't.

Guess this is why they went with the gear guard cables feature as well.
I've never tried but I dont think you can use those cables on things in that storage area under the bed.

You can get it to close on the cables with a bit of force but it's no-longer water proof after that. It also makes it obvious there might be something of value under there to someone who doesn't know about the storage area.

Mine is hard enough to close without any extra blockages. Would have been nice if there was a second gear guard plug under there. I basically never open that area because its a pain to access for me.
