I had my first, really disappointing exchange with ANYBODY at Rivian, ever. A Sales dude encouraged me to get busy ordering a ‘26 R1T QuadMax, after I had mentioned to his colleague (last week) that I was having problems with the ‘26 Configurator. Ten seconds of due-diligence would have saved him the professional embarrassment of not knowing which Rivian I owned and that I’ve had a $3K deposit in for about a year now. (An interest-free loan) Thats just a few clicks on any keyboard there. He seemed excited that they could offer me about $18-20K under market for a trade-in. Overall, an extremely disappointing transaction, making my low-mileage ‘22 R1T look even better.

I'm a Rivian fan but I have met some employees that would qualify as idiots. Sorry you had a bad experience mate.

Curious what they offered on a trade. KBB has trade in value on a 2022 R1T LE with 30k miles between 49-55k, are you saying they only offered you 35k?

That's a bummer.

What did you get quoted for your '22? I got a good deal on mine (pretty much market rate). Trading in my S and going back to a T, and they're offering more than my lease payoff (put 0 down).

The $3000 is NOT an interest free loan to Rivian. It goes into escrow, so let that chip fade away.

jeebus, don't tempt me. I miss my T while everyone else in the family prefers the S.

Didn't you just get the S? Seems like a complex transaction. So,,, they will handle the payoff with Chase and give you the difference towards the new T? (please say no :D)

Would you like this answer in the form of truth, or with limited marital collateral damage?

Limited damage: No, the S is amazing (actually true) and I think trucks are lame (yeah no).

Truth: Got the S in June. It's amazing, and an enormous step up from Gen1, but I miss my truck. We were driving back home the other day, and my wife spotted a blue T, asked me if I missed it - I coldly said "yes, I miss it" while firming my grip on the S's steering wheel.

2 hours later, she told me to get another truck. Because she's awesome.

Truth is, they're giving me nearly 80k on the trade, and after incentives. I got 18k in incentives when I got the S, so the effective "OTD" the lease came to around 75k. There's some tax involved and I'm eating the original registration/delivery fees, but overall, I'm coming out about even, possibly a teeny bit ahead after 2 months and 2500 miles.

The new T is going to be more expensive, since I'm going with the Max Pack plus a few other goodies (back to OC interior, blackout package, v2 tonneau, sound/vision, etc), so the monthly will be higher.

Oh, and to add to your woes ... the transaction is pretty much seamless. I just had to fill out paperwork again and be a little patient.

Honestly, now's the time if you want to be a dummy and do this - if you get a '25, there's an extra $1500 off, but the '26 lease is still $14k in incentives (which is what I did). Found one of the few Red Canyon '26s in the Shop, which they aren't spec'ing anymore for the '26+ MYs.

yeah, let’s hear some numbers. If the employee did provide poor numbers all you need to do is ask to speak with his supervisor and it will get resolved and employee will learn something.
