I went to Moab last weekend and ran into a super nice dude in an R1S from Washington headed to Texas. We talked Rivian for a few while charging.

Does any one else talk to other Owners? It feels like we are all in a pack or something! Everyone loves to chat Rivian.

As much as possible. I generally talk to any other EV drivers while charging most of which are also very interested in talking Rivian

I saw an r1s pull up after me at a RAN and said to the driver cheerfully as we plugged in “What a coincidence!” He muttered a nervous huh huh laugh and didn’t engage beyond that. Fair enough. Other EV owners have been more talkative. Just a roll of the dice lol

Took a trip to SoCal last week and the only one that spoke to me was a newish Rivian owner who had their R1S in the shop and asking how charging would work on a Rivian loaner.

Other than that, people waved hello but kept to themselves.

Totally depends on the situation. I had some good conversations with some fellow Rivian drivers to/from the eclipse this past week. One was actually working for a charging company trying to install a bunch of stations. Also wound up talking to a nice family from Omaha at one of the EVgo/Ultium/FlyingJ stations when they plugged into the same stall as me due to a partial ICEing issue at the other stall. A lot of the conversations I wind up having with generic EV drivers is either about the truck or helping educate folks on the nuances of EV charging. There was one guy in a Nissan Ariya having all kinds of issues getting sent to incompatible stations by his vehicle's nav, etc...gave him some good tips around ABRP, PlugShare, and optimizing charging. There was a period on the return trip where there were 2-3 of us Rivians hitting the same stations and some of us talked. Especially if you're in or going to an "adventure" area like Moab it's fun to talk about our adventuring too.

I will talk if the others talk to me, but otherwise I’ll just wave and smile. Earlier this week I was sitting in my truck talking on the phone while charging when another T owner was asking me a question from outside. I felt bad that all I could do was quickly roll down my window and answer him. I’m sorry whoever you are!

Seeing as I predominantly charge in my garage, I keep a chair and mirror nearby so I can give myself daily affirmations:

Rivian R1T R1S Do you talk to other Rivian Owners while charging? 200w

Nah.

They're hipsters and breeders. :p

My R1T does tock to them though.

More seriously it really depends on the situation. At an EA station its painfully obvious as to who's new to EA charging so I try to help them out.

With a RAN I imagine it depends on how remote it is. The more remote the more I'm inclined to talk to them to see what they're up to.

I’ve only chatted with a handful of EV owners. Most of my conversations have been with pedestrians stopping by asking about the truck and general EV questions.
