I have a Gen1 R1T and I've noticed more than a few times in the last couple of months I've been listening to a track or album on Apple Music, and after quite a while (like 1 to 3 minutes) the song will kick into Dolby Atmos mode, which as we all know is louder and more spatial, and has the Atmos icon on the media player. Is anyone else experiencing this also? I don't think it is a cellular strength issue as I experience it around town. I generally like tracks that have Atmos encoding, but I hate the volume change that comes with it, and having it happen mid-song is doubly annoying.

I have had similar experiences with Apple Music since updating to 2026.03.0. Songs I know are encoded will not consistently play with Dolby Atmos. The Apple Music app will also randomly stop playing, restarting the song starts from the beginning. I see the upcoming 2026.07 addresses some Apple Music "features", hopefully they fixed these "features".

I have a feeling that Gen1 has better sound than Gen2. My 2026 R1S with premium audio sounds so terrible that it can’t be fixed simply by Equalizer, 3D sound, Atmos or other tweaks. It needs a totally hardware overhaul and recalibration to cabin spaces.

Yesterday I was at NY auto show and sat in Volvo EX90, similar or lower priced EV, incredible sound improvement was shocking! Suddenly I wanted to hear more songs and tapped my feet even if it’s just FM radio. When you have a high quality steak, no need for all kinds of sauces. 😆

I believe the general consensus is (at least in the truck):

G1 Meridian > G2 Premium > G1 non-Meridian > G2 Standard

I've had 1, 2, and 4 and that was my experience. G1 Meridian in the R1T was fantastic.

Yes but maybe more like this

G1 Meridian —————> G2 Premium > G1 non-Meridian > G2 Standard
