I have a long road trip coming up next week so I ordered an A2Z NACS adapter. I wanted to test it before I hit the road so I went to a Supercharger site that appeared on the Tesla app as available to non Teslas. I also have a Tesla Y so I have a Tesla account and the app. I also have 5,000 "free" miles from Tesla, so I am hoping to use them on this road trip, so that was part of the test. After a couple of false start operator error issues, mainly I did not have the adapter securely inserted on to to the Tesla end and then on to the Rivian, I was able to initiate charging. I limited the charging to just 6 K's because I it was just a test run.
I used the Tesla app to initiate charging so I would not be charged in my Rivian account and hopefully my free miles would be applied. Net result is that not only were my free Tesla miles not applied to the charge session, but I was charged $2.94 in both my Rivian and Tesla accounts which I have confirmed on my visa account.
So any ideas what I am doing wrong? I am sure I can straighten it out with Visa but is this going to happen all the time? How do I get my free miles from Tesla?
