Video of my first real use of Driver+. Coming from the Ford Mustang Mach-E, I'm comparing it to my experience with that.

Overall not bad, but not perfect either.

Good info and video. Thx. IMHO as an R1T owner driver + and normal cruise is terrible. I came from a KIA which was light years ahead of the Rivian. It doesn't even have effective lane keep assist which keeps you in the middle of the lane with or without cruise. Driver+ deactivates constantly for no apparent reason The fact Rivian controls when you can use driver+ by allowing/limiting use via the map is infuriating. They should simply limit use based on speed or speed limit. . There are express lanes on i575/i75 in North Georgia and driver plus does not work at all on those roads.

I was pretty surprised that adaptive cruise control was pretty much basic cruise control to maintain speed and distance. Most modern cars, as i said in the video, even my wife's Subaru outback which is a lower trim sub $30K car has lane centering and active steering. Maybe this will improve overtime, they have the sensors and cameras already in place, should be something that could come OTA.

I traded in a Tesla to get the R1T. I ran the Tesla on Autopilot 98% of the time, and it was super predictable. Driver+ is a total joke in comparison, though it has a couple of small things that are better. Overall however, it's terrible in comparison.

My 2019 I-Pace does a better job with ACC and lane centering than my R1S. The random disengagements and warning chimes, as well as the lack of lane centering on unmapped highways make Driver+ really unpleasant to use.

The Bluecruise on our Lightning was light years ahead of Driver+, and that's before they updated to Bluecruise 1.2.

I also had bluecruise 1.0, it work really well. I would even say it was the best if these systems, granted I haven't spent much time with super cruise

Whoa-I am glad I read this thread. Was just about to pull trigger on a new Rivian. However some type of good driver assist feature is a requirement for me. I use it on all freeway drives with my bmw iX and Tesla model y. Probably will pass on the Rivian if the driver assist is not as good as a Subaru which I am familiar with and is light years behind bmw and Tesla.

I would wait for Rivian to start shipping vehicles with the updated sensor suite if driver assist matters to you that much.

On Mapped highways, as shown in the video it was "fine" not bad, nothing amazing either. On Non-mapped roads, its very much a basic system. That's not to say that it cant improve over time, but don't buy a car hoping that it will get new features in the future. Either wait until they do update it or if you need to get a new car GM, Ford and BMW seem to have the best in this area.

I just wish at minimum they stopped with the mapped roads and opened up Driver+ on roads I choose. I could use kianand Genesis highway assist on any road going over 45mph. Also Kia system never randomly shut off.
