Not being pedantic, just trying to educate and reduce confusion for yourself and others as your statements were demonstrably wrong. If your ego can't handle being corrected, then maybe a public forum isn't the place for you.
If you really want to educate people, use the same terminology Rivian does:

https://rivian.com/support/article/...w-down-in-the-infotainment-system-performance

No wait, you're right, use this terminology from the owner's guide (even Rivian can't keep things consistent eh?):

Rivian R1T R1S Drivetrain screen no longer shows data 1755089999528-x7

Personally I'm for soft(ware) reset, and hard(ware) reset. But, neither are technically resets since it doesn't cause any settings to change, and they aren't unconditional and immediate restarts like traditional computer reset buttons are.

But then again, Rivian doesn't give us the distinction of a restart vs a power-off reboot either. Some hardware issues can only be resolved by turning power off and starting completely over, since some level of the hardware gets into an inconsistent state that's maintained through restarts. Because restarts don't always allow some hardware to go through necessary re-initialization sequences. I have my suspicions that a vehicle restart actually does power cycle some, or all, of the devices.

I have a few devices that exhibit this situation, and I feel aggrieved by not being given the option to power cycle them without additional hardware controlling the power...

I just had this happen on my third drive with 2025.34.30 on my 2025 R1S. Had not happened for a LONG time.
