This is what part of what I posted after my first DC charge - to 100%:

For the drive home I selected Conserve Mode. The road was still wet (light rain & 36 degrees, minimal wind) and was in a slightly hilly area with cruise control set for 60. After about 20 minutes I checked the 15 min avg efficiency number and saw it was up to 2.52 mile/kW. The last part of the drive I lowered the cruise to 55 mph and saw the 15 min avg number go up to 2.82. The road for this last section was flat. Way too early to know how accurate that number is, but it does give some idea of how Conserve mode and lower speeds impact range.

Is that what you are looking for? I will be making a 600 mile trip this weekend and will try to keep an eye on mileage.
That is exactly what I was looking for. Thank you for sharing!

If you unplug and plug back in does the behavior change at all? I think I recall Kyle testing the mustang Mach e and it would dip after a certain amount of time so unplugging and then plugging back in would give higher rates again.

Any FL or AZ owners in the house to test the impact of surrounding temps on fast charging?

I suspect warranty of 70% or more on the battery capacity for 8 years or 175,000 miles put R!T's BMS on the cautious side.

Screenshots from an R1T Charging session in California. Found online

Nice find!
Playing with some math here for the charging curve:
the taper generally occurs pretty hard at 60%. So let's assume 20 to 60% SOC averaged ~190kw. And let's assume charging losses were consistent across the charging session. So 20% to 60% would be 0.8*73kwh = 58 kwh.
58 kwh/190kw = 18 minutes.

60 to 70% would be ~15 kwh in 32 minutes - 18 minutes. So an average of 65kw.

Playing the same game with 65% would be about 30kw on average. If it averaged 175 from 20 to 65%, then you run into about 47kw over that last 5%.

Also, we know that the max speed they said it could handle to the EPA was 210kw. So there should be at least 6kw of charging losses there. It also could be consistent with the max I've seen from someone's truck, which was 196kw. (~10% charging losses).

So interesting development. @OutofSpecKyle was hypothesizing that this may be the battery coldgating at 60%.

Hopefully @OutofSpecKyle will be able to get Rivian to explain what's going on with the charging behavior.
it doesn't sound like he's seeing quite the same things we are. Just in brief tidbits it sounds like it's just a hard taper, but not a straight up step-down.

Allegedly a 500 amp charge session will be on the live stream at the next charger. Maybe in an hour? Not sure how far away. The 350 amp sessions are basically flat 140-150 kw up to unplugging around 60% from what I’ve seen.

He is about 1hr out from a verified 500 amp EA charger.

On the vehicle side can you limit the amps it is pulling from the dcfc?

If it is overheating and the termal management isn't kicking in, you could drop it to say 100kw and see if the charger still drops at the 60%.

Yes you can, a good example of why you would want to: using a Tesla home charger and adapter, mine is limited to 40 amps.

What's coldgating?
Where the battery isn't warm enough to accept the full charging rate.

He is about 1hr out from a verified 500 amp EA charger.
It seems to have cold gated quite hard after driving all day. Interestingly it said "battery conditionoing" while it was charging and the speeds were drastically reducing. He plugged in at 2%, and pulled like 130kw immediately, it ramped up to about 140 at 20%, and then it dropped below 80kw at about 40%.

@fastwheels did you ever see it pop up with a little text above the red line that says battery conditioning?

The Tesla home charger — and all home chargers and portable chargers — isn’t a “charger” and it definitely isn’t a DC Fast Charger. It is Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE) which feeds AC to the vehicle’s onboard charger.
