Has anyone rolled the dice on cheap amazon crossbars designed for the R1 such as:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/3950384524...AwmWXT9gdZgxiksqhcY3aKdkzrQu|tkp:BFBM-vr2y4hj

Here's the deal... if I were to mount a tent I wouldn't skimp. I'm just interested in mounting a small cargo basket, and $650 seems like a big bullet to bite just for this.

Sorry if this has been posted before, I couldn't seem to find another thread on it.

They might be using a generic photo, but the pic in the listing doesn’t look like it would fit the Rivian mounting points. ??‍♂

Yeah, that's probably the catch. I might just be the guinea pig and see.

If they have a return policy it might be worth a shot. At least you can look at them in person and decide.

My name is Mike, and I have a (car) problem
Seller shows having every possible roof rail available for every car on earth.

Seller has 2 reviews.

I would hard pass here.

This isn’t where I would save my money. Not clear at all how these attach, if they are meant to clamp on the door frame that could even damage the soft metal on the Rivian.

The factory bars are worth it. Just do it and cry once. You'll forget about the $$ relatively quickly.

The OE bars are great. You might score a deal on Craigslist from someone selling theirs. I wouldn’t do the ebay route - too sketchy IMO.

The ones I’ve seen look to be the generic rain gutter mounted kind; brackets sitting directly on top of paint. Think about what damage you would be opening yourself to. And it’s not even a potential for damage. It’s a guarantee. You bought an expensive vehicle. Does skimping to save a couple hundred (and incurring multiples more in damages) make sense?

Factory bars do come up for sale from time to time, but be vigilant about scams. It’s among scammers favorite bait.

I'm not interested unless it mounts directly to the existing mounting points.

The truth is, many dealer accessories are made 2 streets away from each other in China, and are then marked up appropriately. What you pay for is fitment.

If they used the correct mounting points it MIGHT be worth it to save ~$400, but this doesn't seem to be the case here. I agree with the points above and will just order the OEM crossbars until something better comes along. Definitely don't want it touching the paint.
