Maybe this question/post is out of bounds as it is not Rivian or electrical vehicle related, or it kind of is but I'll throw it out there & if not cool, someone let me know. I'm in the market for a self propelled electric lawnmower & there seems to be a pretty good market for them. EGO get good reviews, Greenworks, Ryobi....etc. Takes about 30-40 minutes to cut our entire lawn & they all have 40-45 minute minimum run time on a charge. Wondering if anyone has real time experience with any of them.

I have the Greenworks chainsaw, lawnmower, weed whacker, and leaf blower. I love them! The chainsaw stays in the truck during the fall/winter to clear down trees going to the cabin or trailheads, I've used it so many times. I have a 1/2 acre of lawn to mow and can sometimes get it done with just the 5aH battery but sometimes need to also use the 4aH second battery. The backyard has a hill and I self propel up it quite easily. If you have more than a 1/4 acre, I suggest buying a second battery/charger by getting a couple different packages.

As with other mowers, if it's struggling (in the case of electric, keeps revving up into high gear frequently) it usually means you need to sharpen your blade and nothing wrong with the mower itself.

I’ve been using them since the first models came out a long time ago and I had to buy 2 extra batteries if I wanted to mow all at once LOL. Nice to see them available everywhere now.

I’ve used Ryobi and Kobalt (Lowe’s brand) and both lasted for years without issue. EGO, Toro, Stihl, Greenworks are also good brands. Lots of choices now.

I have a Dewalt mower. It’s good, works well when you forget to cut the lawn until 10pm on Sunday and don’t want to piss off the neighbors, if you have them. When I had a cookie cutter suburban house with a small lawn it was fine and did everything on one charge. My yard now requires at least two full charges to cut which really means it’s an all day job since the 10ah batteries take about four hours to recharge.

If you get the Dewalt skip the self propelled version. The mower is more than light enough that the added power usage is not necessary. The same is likely true for other brands as well.

I'm in th Ego Ecosystem and like it. No matter which you choose, stay with the same brand. As far as the Ego goes, batteries are interchangeable with all Ego Devices so as you get more, you also get more batteries. I have enough of them (as well as chargers) so that I can work all day without running out of juice.

All worked well
Got special deals so ended up with extra batteries and chargers
Seldom ran out of juice even when I had an acre to cut weedeat blow and occasionally chainsaw

Also have an EGO mower and trimmer. They work better than I was expecting. I've only had the mower for this summer, so the real test will be this fall when the leaves plop off of the big maple in our front yard.

Just like with a BEV, it's great not to mess around with smelly fuel and no oil changes.

The only other piece I'd want is a chain saw, which I don't really need.

I vote for Greenworks 80v system. Have push mower, blower, saw, hedge trimmer, string trimmer. Had the chainsaw replaced under warranty after a couple years of hard use but still love it.

Use the 40v greenworks at my office, not as powerful but mower, string trimmer, and edger all still work well and are lighter.

Killed a 20v DeWalt string trimmer which kept sucking grass into the motor and just didn't have the strength.

Make sure to check with your energy provider for any incentives they offer. Greenworks has a lot of deals on their website and are also carried (seasonally) at Costco with some extras.

Exactly the same here. First Gen ego owner, batteries have not held up great, but otherwise they're great for smaller jobs.

My first one was this Brill electric reel mower in like 2005. It was terrible. I lived in PA at the time and it wouldn’t turn the blades because the grass was too thick. I had to mow 3 times per week

I finally jumped to the battery mowers last year. It was really important to me that I get one that would cut as well as my gas one and I saw myself entering a new battery ecosystem for outdoor tools when my blower and my weed wacker quit.

That said I got a Toro super recycler (The black one) and it does an incredible job mowing my lawn. The performance is outstanding and even better than my gas one.

That said I have had some regrets about not buying an EGO one. The battery that came with my mower does my yard okay unless it's really overgrown or wet or something else and then it usually quits about 5 or 10 minutes too early. I'd like to buy another battery but they are insanely expensive. I'm really envious over the reported performance of the EGO lines and especially of all of the batteries that are available for at reasonable prices.

Ironically part of what drove me in this direction was that I wanted to adopt a new battery system for my outdoor tools and I want them all to work together and I wanted the weed wacker to use the universal attachments that I have for my gas weed wacker like a hedge trimmer etc and not have to rebuy all those attachments again. The Toro is supposed to have that capability where the EGO does not as far as I know. All this is what led me down the road I'm at now
