I'm a university professor in Illinois and have many students from Normal. Poor kids! They've heard _all_ the jokes! My buddies down at UT-Austin are gleefully trying to keep things weird (with significant success!) while the folks over at Normal are simply striving not to seem dull. The kids just cover up by saying they're from Bloomington!
