Emergency release from inside bed or kidnap-mobile

Hear me out...

If someone was in the frunk or gear tunnel, they could hit the release button and free themselves, right?

But what about the truck bed? If the tonneau is closed, is there a way to release the tailgate or open the tonneau from the inside? I don't see anything. Is the tonneau weak enough to kick through?

It's easy enough to disconnect the buttons, but the gear tunnel doors also have a manual release cable.

Any enclosed space over a certain volume is required to have an emergency release. It’s why if you don’t get a spare on an R1T that compartment has a divider - to reduce the contiguous volume.

It’s probably also part of why rivian says the tonneau covers can’t be retrofitted. Likely no emergency release button for the tailgate if no tonneau optioned.

Same deal. Button required. That’s why I said “tonneau covers” and not power one specifically.

I don’t see why not, but there are probsbly other differences. Namely, wiring. The slots on the side of the bed. Things like captive nuts the tonneauuit attaches to might not be present. Stuff that gets expensive in a hurry when done after manufacture.

Retrofitting factory installed options rarely makes sense from time and money standpoints.
