Hauling a Sunfish or other small sailboat without trailer?

Has anyone done this with a ~12’ boat? If so, what works? Sticking out the back of the bed? Strapped to roof racks? How to deal with the mast and other riggings? I’ve got cross bars but nothing else like a kayak rack. Hull should weigh about 120 lbs.

We’re looking for a small boat and won’t need a trailer apart from getting it home So hoping to eliminate it altogether.

I wouldn't take it on really long drives, but it's totally doable with a standard t-rack extender.

I've had a 10" kayak in the bed, carefully secured, for short trips. You may want to get a bed extender for the trailer hitch, that would extend you bed by like 4 feet and make this a lot easier.

I hauled our sunfish in the bed of the T with a T-bar hitch extender like Mike posted above. The sunfish is too wide to lay flat, so I had to prop it up at an angle and use pool noodles to protect it. I loaded it stern first so that most of the weight was in the bed. No pictures unfortunately.
