These discounts are temporary to beat the number for shareholders (common practice). The value is far greater to the company to exceed delivery estimates than giving a couple thousand discounts. I don't think you will see much discounts even with a new pack architecture, if anything you may see the 800v pack be more expensive driving people to the current models. Also rates they are offering are really low, On the leases the APR is 3.5-4% currently.

1st post, just joined the family.
End of year rush is REAL!
i setup a lease for a R1T quad motor silver and ocean coast interior with 21" wheel, MSRP 89k.
The car was scheduled to arrive at end of day sunday which means i might have only closed the deal on 1/1/24. got a call to ask if i want to take delivery of a car that was ready with 20" AT wheels and front PPF MSRP $93,300, i said i don't want to pay more and the answer was...NO worries come get the car and we will adjust the price to match your order of 89k so i got $4,300 discount off the total MSRP in addition to the 7,500 tax credit.

R1S - April 2021 preorder
This happened to me back in July. No end of Q rush, but clearly didn’t want cars sitting around. Matched me to a car with PPF and I said I didn’t want it so they reduced the price by $1,500 to give me the front PPF for free. You don’t get if you don’t ask…but this was also before the R1S store was going strong…

Seems like I'm seeing a LOT more Rivian vehicles on the roads near me - just in the last week.

Won't be surprised if they blow away the stated Q4 deliver numbers.

Sounds like EOY push to me. Good for them if it helps their numbers.

Tesla is doing the same thing to move their 2023 "inventory" vehicles... $4K or more off and that $41,390 price is before the $7.5K Fed Tax Credit!

If you can claim the $7.5K credit.. you could get a Model Y for $34K :)

great deal on the price! But,
are you sure about the tax credit? From your prices it looks like you don’t have pre-hike pricing before August 2022 so the $80k cap on MSRP would apply. My understanding is you wouldn’t even get the half federal credit for in USA assembly.

Correct me if I’m wrong

In other news, I went to a meet your Rivian event last Friday of 2023 and expected to have some “sales” person try to get me to drive off with a Rivian or ink a deal for end of year delivery but nothing…I am expecting to still receive a call from “sales” based on what I was told so probably not just end of year and a little insight into Q1 too perhaps ?

I ordered the car just a week ago so no pre hike price for me but definitely got the full $7,500.
here is my post with the full contract...

Interesting! I know you said no pre-hike price but I wonder if some other Federal rule is playing to your benefit here. Like, only pre-March 2022 orders have the price lock but any orders/reservations signed before August 15, 2022 aren't limited to the MSRP cap of 80k (per IRS).

I may be misstating terms like reservation etc but hopefully still speaking sense.

@Coco135 have you asked Rivian or your CPA how you're eligible?

wait, you're a lease. someone already said that circumvents it somehow

yes, I did 24 months lease with 0 down other than taxes and first month payment, I have 24 months to figure if I want to keep it our not which will depend on actually depreciation and my 'love' for the truck.
By doing it this way I got the 7,500 which I wouldn't get if I bought the truck right out of the gate.
