End of Year rush?

My delivery is set for the first week of Jan 24 but I was just contacted by Rivian to get $1500 off if I take delivery by the end of this week. It is nice but I can personally not swing it. Does anyone else have the same offer and any thoughts?

It's not a financial issue, just more a problem to get time off from work and other prior arrangements already made. Too bad though.

Being in NM you’d need to go to ABQ I assume. I can see how inconvenient it could be. Ours took about 2 hours including going there and back.
If they really wanna sell, they’ll probably bring it to you if you ask.

No SC anywhere in NM so would probably be coming out of PHX in this situation. At least I hope so, Las Cruces is way far south so Denver would be a long haul.

They offered me free all weather mats to take delivery by EOY. Not exactly the most compelling incentive, but I do have the original pricing locked in. I'm in NM also and decided to wait till there is some word on a service center here.

It seems that getting the price with some color options below $80k so that buyers can take advantage of the tax credit makes good sense.

100%. How quickly we’ve gone from it costs what it costs to straight up discounts. While they could still have a good backlog and they’re just trying to make quotes annual numbers, I’ll be curious to see how that backlog looks in 1H 2024.

I just entered my Steps for delivery. Ordered Oct 2020 pre-IPO pricing. R1s large pack, Limestone w/OC interior. road wheels Silver. I am 5 1/2 hours away from the nearest SC So Rivian has now obviously opened up delivery outside the old zoning restrictions. I don;t know what this means if anything concerning demand or overall EV market conditions. I do know this timing coincides with previous Rivian guidance from a year ago when they estimated “Late 2023” for my delivery.

I personally believe the backlog for R1T is essentially zero right now and the R1S has a couple of months of waiting.

I blame interest rates, not Rivian. My question is how much can they cut costs in order to lower prices, even if temporarily?

I could see a strategy where they cut prices by as much as 10% in Q1 and Q2. Once the updated R1 platform (possibly with 800v architecture) is launched in Q2, they raise prices again.

Supposedly interest rates will be cut next year. Hard to say when and by how much.

I would like to see Rivian give us the option to remove some features like the air suspension to further lower costs. I don't even like air suspensions due to the problems they bring.
