Has anyone had prior experience with EVInsulate? They just released their product for the R1S. I understand the concept was just hoping for some real world experience from someone who may have done one in a Tesla previously.

I can say that the range loss in the winter is not from heating the cabin. On a zero degree day I drove with the heat off and heated seats off for 30 miles. I then drove with the heat on for the same distance. Minimal difference in my efficiency. Range loss in winter is from heating the battery and all batteries hate cold weather, plain and simple. I do like the idea of this, I am also considering a solid tint. I dislike the glass roof and the glare on the screens along with the ridiculous heat.

I'm mostly interested in the ability for it to help maintain a cooler cabin during the summer and a warmer cabin in the winter. I figured the ability for it to make a meaningful impact on range will likely be minimal since battery temp will be the main factor for that.

I did a quick online search of this product review on any vehicle (M3, MY, Me) and could not find a single review. Only questions being asked.

Are these guys still in business? Why are no insert glass panel images available? Only installed, high reflective images....

I assume they are in business since they emailed me last Friday letting me know it's available now after I had asked about it a couple weeks ago.

Your search revealed the same results as mine - just more questions about it's efficacy.

I can't comment on this product as I don't have it. Unless it's coated, conduction is only part of the issue. If radiant heat gets to the second layer then convection is still an issue. What makes dual pane so effective is the coating as well. There is no mention of this.

I have the snap in removable sun shade. The Outside is silver reflective and it makes a big difference in radiant heat coming in. So Cal 110f has been bearable. Before it felt like we were sitting under a heat lamp. Winter is less critical in moderate winters but I may test it in the snow.

Not sure why you would want to go this risky route over Local Ceramic Tinting.

Just mostly curiosity at this point. I'll likely go ceramic tint at the end of the day but thought it was an interesting product and just wanted to see if others had experience with it.

Same, wish they talked more about that. And maybe a comparison against the silver fabric liners, which I have now.

Because of the risk of breaking the top glass with tint.

I've heard this a lot about tinting the roof but haven't seen much direct evidence about it. I have my windshield tinted which would typically see more blunt for trauma as well as similar radiation from the sun yet no one seems to talk about windshields getting tinted.

Same. I can't find hard evidence, so it's just some level of perceived risk. I have no idea what risk there could be with the double panel, since it would protect the top glass from the huge heat differential from the inside, and that part would be an improvement.

One huge difference for the windshield; it doesn't have its own factory color, and the roof does. That can be a major factor in energy absorption.
