Existing deposit, can’t configure

Curious if anyone else is having this issue. When logged in and do a new build on a DM Max R1S, it is asking for my CC again to charge an additional $1000 non refundable deposit.

You can only apply the deposit to the shop right now. I'm assuming eventually they'll let you build over with it.

Seems crazy that you can be a new customer and do a full build and configure but not if you already gave them your money years ago…

Probably has something to do with the pre march pricing not applying to configurations after September.

Pre price hikes discounts are only applicable to store purchases not custom builds. If you're willing to pay full price for a custom build you have to make a non refundable deposit. I'd assume you're previous deposit would get applied afterwards as well.

My deposit was after the price hike so there shouldn’t be a reason to not be able to apply and order. Rivian doesn’t make you feel very warm and fuzzy about spending $100k with them. Getting any real support is like pulling teeth.

From what I've seen, and I'm no expert, it's one deposit for a specific build. If you want to change that, you have to work with Rivian to work special magic in the background.

As a pre hike deposit holder and a current R1S owner, I spoke to Rivian yesterday and they were told by management that if you have a voucher, you can only buy from the Shop. As of yesterday, there is no back room magic but maybe they will let you use your voucher to buy a configured vehicle especially a tri motor. I think if they want to sell vehicles, they need to have everyone who wants to buy to be allowed to use their voucher if they have one.

I had a chat with Rivian about this on Friday because I had the same problem. Long story short is HST the configurator in the login experience seems will online be available in the coming days/weeks. So you need to cancel the existing preorder and make a new one through the configurator. That exactly what I did. Unfortunately now I'll need to hound Rivian for my money because I gave them my deposit years ago and my card is no longer active.

I was given similar info from my guide yesterday. "We aren't able to swap order over - it will need to be a new order placed and us refund the current order." I haven't done it yet because I wanted to make sure I understood what she was saying, but having a couple people confirm makes me feel better about giving them more money. We just put our deposit down about 5 weeks ago.
