I have never heard good things about the extended warranty companies. Some folks have said they were fine. I never found anything definitive on the Tesla forums either.
People in the Tesla forums seem to have relatively good experience with them. Their price has gone up for Rivian and Lucid vs original Tesla pricing. Like all extended warranties, you are betting on getting OOW repairs greater than the cost of the plan over the term of the coverage to make the plan worthwhile.
According to consumer reports the odds are that the price of the contract plus deductible will be more than the cost of covered repairs if any, that's how the company's make their money as the odds are in their favor. However that study was done pre EV's and EV's are supposed to be more reliable than ICE's?????
I would think warranties would not make sense for the typical class of buyer of a $80,000 automobile. Just take the warranty cost stick it in a certificate of deposit and withdraw as needed.
I found a $200 promo code TOSV for XCARE plan when I was doing my research and wanted to share it with this group.
This plan is an excellent option along with Fidelity Warranty for your EV. Especially if you want 125,000 mile coverage which tends to run higher with Fidelity Warranty.
I decided to go with Fidelity Warranty based on pricing and my own mileage / usage.
