Factory ppf 2023 R1T issue

I was side swiped recently. Told the autobody shop I thought the truck had ppf on the doors. I even called the call center to verify. They said yes I do [$1500 option].

Auto Body shop says no evidence of ppf.

MY QUESTION TO THE FORUM: Does anyone who got their truck around this time [11/23] recall what panels were covered?

Another reason its easier to have a private shop apply the PPF as opposed to the factory. I wouldn't trust a body shop to safely remove PPF either. I would have my private shop remove it and then give it to the body shop.

Wasn't a full factory wrap like $5K? I think you likely only got the front protection if you only paid $1500.

Mine is an October '23 build with no PPF option. Only has it on the gear tunnel doors.

it covers gear tunnel doors, hood, front fascia, bumper, mirrors, charge door, and front fenders

Standard PPF is on the gear tunnel hatches and the undercuts behind the fender vents only. 1500 option is front only… unless you’re trying to commit insurance fraud. Diminished value claim is legal however.

Our r1s from thanksgiving 2023 has only the hood, front and front side panels with ppf. Nothing on doors. I find it less necessary for road rocks protection. And anyways ppf lasts only 5 y ish. Not a full wrap.

PPF lasts only "5 yish"?? How so? Where did you get that from?
Is that the Rivian-installed PPF, or did PPF 'R' Us install it or We PPF Mom and Pop shop down the street and what kind?
My EVs have full XPEL 10-mil PPF with OptiCoat Pro Plus ceramic coating. 4 years in, the one on my Tesla MS is and looks as good and as mighty shiny as it did when first installed. It will snow in hell before my PPF magically quits in one year as you suggest. Indeed, PPF on my vehicles is guaranteed for life; may need to have ceramic coating reapplied in 7 years at worst, maybe.

Pethaps this is one of those you-get-what-you-pay-for things.

Well, then. A very hasty generalization.
XPEL PPF shall never yellow, full stop. Throw OptiCoat ceramic coating on top. And mine is guaranteed for life that it shall not yellow, period. And in the extremely unlikely event it did, it shall be replaced under warranty. Other lesser PPF out there perhaps will not measure up.
I thought Rivian installed XPEL, but at a "bargain" $1,500 price for the front only, one has to wonder how good a job that is. Bet there is little prep work if at all, paint correction, etc. for starters. PPF installation is an art science for professional installers to do, not a side job for vehicle manufacturers.

Replacing XPEL PPF and ceramic coating on my Rivian two passenger-side doors and rear fender alone was north of $3,200 (Rivian covered it). Again, you get what you pay for.

XPEL and others would not offer 10 year warranty on their products knowing it would only "last 5 years". Be mindful of context when you regurgitate gross generalizations you "read on the internet".

Do you know what kind of prep work Rivian does before installing PPF or does Rivian just slap it on, done?
Barely one month old and undriven, my R1S needed paint correction on hood and a couple other places before PPF went on. And installer actually ripped off initial PPF installed on hood because he noticed another paint defect on hood to fix.

IIRC, it's done by XPEL's shop, set up near Rivian's factory. I would hope XPEL's own employees know how to install it.
