I have had two R1T’s, the first a Launch Edition QM (long story Rivian took it back) and the second a DM. On the LE the PPF was wrapped over the edges of the Gear Tunnel doors terminating on the inside. Several loaner R1T’s I was given were wrapped in a similar manner as was a tech’s R1T who did a mobile repair at my house. No problems with the PPF on the LE. The PPF on the DM is a different story. It is peeling off both Gear Tunnel doors near the edges of the doors. Upon close inspection it appears the factory is now applying the PPF in a different manner. Rather than wrapping it over the edges of the doors terminating inside it is trimmed off on the outside of the doors just short of the edges. While not an expert on PPF (in fact my R1T’s are the first cars I have owned with it) I suspect the factories change in installation practices may be the problem. The PPF is going to be replaced at the SC next week and I am going to ask that the new PPF be wrapped over the edges to the inside of the doors as with my previous R1T.
