My guess is that they announce some new colors and possibly launch config for the new Quad. Image could be referring to the new "Dune" color. Have also seen a purple color posted online as well.

The quad and new colors should be another demand trigger Rivian can pull ....I can't wait to test it out...that's if the Rivian gods allow me ?

Looking for the "Stay Tuned" R2 steering wheel to option into the build packages for all R1 new builds.

But just imagine if they gave us an R1X Like some of the Click bate media was speculating back in April. Just for fun im going to compile all the things speculated that I think would make the ultimate Truck/SUV. every one of these was at least mention in some article if you google "Rivian R1X". obviously this would be based on the quad.

  • 2" increased ride hight and suspension travel
  • Flared fenders and wider wheel stance
  • 35" or larger Tires
  • New more aggressive front end
    • New front and rear bumpers
  • accents like the R3X we all love.

Basically if they did to the R1 what the Raptor is to the f150/bronco or TRX to the 1500. Adding just some of these would be so cool to see. Something just a bit more to differentiate one of the most outrageous trucks/SUVs ever made. I am a Rivian Die hard and the quad will be my 3rd Rivian but my only gripe is that it just dosen't have the presences it should. Its missing that head turning something special that any of the vehicles that can compete with the rivian in any segment have.
on the Off road side a TRX, Raptor, High end Land rovers they all feel more special. on the High performance side the same can be said for a Urus, X5M, Range Rover. Even though IMO the Rivian is just plain better than all of these.

I have gone to great lengths to try and modify mine to make it feel a little more special.
  • I had custom Wheel Spaces made to give it a wider stance
    • Dont do this it rubs :(. LOL
  • I wrapped my first r1t completly in Carbon fiber viynly
    • This was cool
  • Dark out pagage befor this was a thing. Helps but still
    • literally everything that was not balck.
  • Tinted all the lights
    • sacrificed some light to try and make the front look a little less bubbly/freindly
  • Custom made Ride hight senor linkage to increase ride hight while still being able to use sport
    • Again dont bother. Rivian got it right and even with alighnment set at 1-2" higher its crap. Axels dont like the angle along with a strange thing where under hard "Sport" acceleration with the truck up higher the front end lifts way more and that causes the front wheels to drasticly
  • 295/65/20s
    • This is a win. they fit, dont rub, look awesome and shocking dont comprimise performance despite having a larger diameter.
  • Rock Sliders
    • Meh - I thought it would "beef it up" some, I got mine from goat fabrications and they are awesome but im torn on if I like the look
  • Mud flaps
    • Surprisingly IMO these made a difference, maybe becase they wrap up into the wheel well prety far so they are almost like fender flairs for 1/4 of the wheel, IDK but I feel they make it look thicker
  • Blacked out cross bars over the bed - This just makes it look cooler IMO
    • I powered coated mine before the black ones came out.
  • Trail light
    • I added some Baja lights on the Apillers
      • I think they look cool and I also use them alot in remote areas
      • definitely add some wind noise
  • Working on a big brake kit. but this will probably be for my Gen 2 Quad "soon"
    • There is just something special looking about a big 2 piece brake rotor filling up the wheel
  • Contacted a custom body shop about doing a custom fender flare
1-The aftermarket support of the Rivian is lacking to much for us to truly customize right now but that is not surprising becase its a small market, I think there are probably already more Cybertrucks on the road. Speaking of, this is another example of a vehicle that looks "special" maybe too much so and probably not executed right, Just too long looking IMO. Props to SOFL customs for lifting and doing body work to some R1ts but there designes are not for me.

2- if you stuck in here this long- Sorry about my rant. Im just dreaming of the day when my perfect daily driver can be had. Please Rivian- If you read this give the R1 exactly what you did for the R3X. The r3X has been the most universally praised prototype EV since the first Rivian.

My predictions:

Tank turn mode is here for real on both gen1 and gen2 quads- geofenced to known sand dune locations.

Introducing a retrofittable bumper mounted winch and sand anchor to help people get out after they get stuck doing tank turns.

The gen 2 quad will also be getting Mercedes's bounce mode to further assist post-tank-turn recovery.

They have installed a fast charger in Sand Dunes National Park so you can top off after an afternoon of fun getting stuck in the sand.

Additionally:

They are discontinuing Green, Red, and Blue paint and are introducing 4 new shades of grey.
