I ordered a R1S in Dec 2019 and my father in law got his R1T more than a year ago and lives in the same town. I kept getting promises of s00n without being clear that apparently the only thing holding me up was my address. I switched it to an apartment in Phoenix last monday and got a request to confirm my configuration less than 24 hours later. I took a day to decide on everything and they opened the 8 steps the next morning. Saturday morning I got a text saying the truck was ready. I scheduled for a pickup at the SC in Phoenix next Saturday. It all happened in less than two weeks! I haven't met my guide yet and I haven't asked my boss for leave so I can drive down. It appears that they are working on getting a SC up and running in new mexico but because of our arcane laws it needs to be on a reservation. That is how Tesla got around the laws. There are plenty of Pueblos to choose from but not sure where things are at. I have a friend in Gallup who just picked up an R1T in Chicago. I'm never going to be terribly close to a SC anyway because of how vast this State is. Santa Fe is 3 hours away. Phoenix is 4. Anyway, an update.

Congrats! At least with the Winslow and Sedona RAN's you can get to the Phoenix SC with good charging options.

BTW - I used to work in Chinle, AZ every other month, then Window Rock, AZ every other month - not too far from Gallup.

Great to hear. I just got my invitation last week too. Working on finalizing plans for funding and setting up delivery within the next few weeks. I'm heading to Denver for my delivery so after patiently waiting for 1109 days we are there. Now let's see if we can work on getting a Service Center for Albuquerque....more later for an update.

I have met so many people that have spent time in this area as medical professionals. It is a great area to work in. Lots of wonderful interesting people. And of course, a lot of need.

That RAN is in Holbrook. Which is a great spot because you can head down salt river canyon from there or out to Payson. I've already used it a couple times.

That's great to hear too. Hopefully that will happen soon although it looks like the only way our state will allow it is on Reservations. I hope that changes because they are losing lots of tax revenue because we are paying it to someone else. Great deal for the Pueblos though.

We live near Santa Fe and have had a reservation since July of 2022--so, fairly recent by Rivian standards. I saw the same rumor on Reddit about a CS coming to NM sometime this coming year. I just chatted online with a customer service person and she could not confirm the rumor. She did say they would be sending out more invitations before the end of this year. We will see. We would still love to have a Rivian truck.

Hi--Did you also use an alternate address--?? Non-NM? I have been told to do that on two occasions and do have friends in Denver. Aren't you worried about repair issues?

I think Rivian's plan is to go the tesla route and put a service center at a Pueblo. The Tesla center is 3.5 hours from us and Phoenix is 4. So not much difference. There is a mobile guy who will come to you for most stuff. And many of the things that break at least initially are little things that can be fixed by him (hopefully). If not, they'll come get it if its a warranty issue. Changing your address works fine and I was honest with them that I live in New Mexico and they were totally fine with it.

I did use a Phoenix address of a friend. I changed the delivery address and got the truck less than two weeks later. Phoenix is pumping them out. There probably 25 Rivians there and they were all going out the door.

Any updates on timing/location re: rumors of a NM service center?
Also for NM residents who have used a CO address to take delivery, did you have to register the vehicle in CO initially or can you register it in NM?

Rivian chat was not able to answer either of these questions today.
Thanks

I just got an R1S in late September. I changed my address to a friend's apartment in Phoenix. Part of the purchase is to register the car and you choose where. I chose NM and they took care of everything (including tax and registration fees). I got my registration and a license plate in the mail in short order. You can also choose to pick it up at the SC and not pay the new delivery fee which is a 1000. I would drive to phoenix for that anyway. It was absolutely no problem. And the whole process started the day after I changed my delivery address. Just be careful that all the other stuff you purchase (floor mats, chargers etc) get sent to your home address.

Thanks for the info, and good to know that it worked out for you. I'm tempted to do the same with a Colorado address, but I may end up just waiting till 2025 when they change the charging port over to NACS and hopefully open a service center here (assuming the rumor ios true!?) Just hoping I can still get the pre price-hike pricing at that point.

Rivian told me that they were mostly concerned because they didn't want me to be so far away from a service center. So they wanted me to wait until they built one. The problem is because I live in Gallup the service center is going to be at least 2 hours away and possibly more like three to three and a half. That's just the nature of living in a small town in a massive state. They do have a mobile guy who can do a lot of work. Although unfortunately not glass work currently. Although I did talk to the service center and turns out that Safelite does have Rivian glass for at least the front window. I'm hoping it very little else breaks. At least in the near future.
