First R1T for sale on Bring a Trailer

The first R1T has been listed on Bring a Trailers auction site. I know of at least two others that have been listed on Cars and Bids auction site one which has already ended. Will be interesting to see where these end up.

Out of curiosity, why are people listing on these rather than Cars.com or something? CarsandBids and this seem to have had the lowest selling prices that I can recall. Are the fees much lower?

Hazarding a guess, probably because they're hoping for a bidding frenzy. To your point, I'd sooner list for a fixed price of X rather than leave it to chance, especially when a ceiling seems to have been established.

Sellers have 0 fees on C&B or BaT, unless they opt for certain selling assistance I believe. But they get the full auction price. Have we confirmed that R1Ts have actually sold higher from other places? I know a dealership listed one as sold at a higher price, but who knows if that's actually true.

I've heard of a couple of folks selling at 140k+ in cars.com, but who knows if they're full of it. Most of the listings on Autotraders are 140k+ though.

I don't really care personally, I'm not going to tell mine anytime soon. Just curious what the impetus for posting on C&B was.

I think people saw what the Hummer EV went for on C&B (something like 120k over MSRP, I believe) and thought they'd get the same for the Rivian.

Given current auction prices it seems like a bad idea, though, and I agree fishing for a private sale would be better if people really want to flip it.

Park Place LTD near us claims they have sale pending on two R1Ts at $149,950.

if there are a lot of bidders, sometimes it can get emotional at the end and they end up bidding higher than market value because they don't want to lose.

While there may or may not be a ceiling here at circa $140k based on private and reseller dealer listing prices, feels like the floor is slowly headed downwards.

While the recent $124k sale price on C&B and this $119k BaT sale hardly makes a trend, the market was widely covered and has spoken. We now have an active secondary market and the list of R1T's for sale is growing, not shrinking. Cars.com, Autotrader, and Craiglist all seem to have increasing offerings.

Add the other truck and SUV offering forthcoming starting with the Lightning this week, 50 bps Fed tightening, and it feels like the extra frothy stuff will blow off sOOn.

LOL. I've been thinking the same. Looking at his history it's quite possible.

No way did they intend to buy that. Throwing out those empty bids was a regular pass time for them. I got a good chuckle out of it considering they drove up the price on some cars I was interested in.

The market is definitely set. I’m seeing more on offer around $120k on CL and eBay lately. A few optimists have priced between $140-150k, but those will sit.

The same guy who won the other Cars and Bids auction at $124k is also the high bidder on another one that was just listed there also at $108k so I'm pretty sure he meant to bid. Not sure if he is a dealer and trying to reflip these or what but he also bid on a HummerEV that was for sale there as well.
