I would like to see 20A plugs as well as V2H &V2V
What I would really like is the cab moved forward for more legroom for the R1S & bed length in the R1T, as much as I love the big frunk I would prefer 4-6" more cab or box length which translates into much more storage volume.
front and rear lockers (they can figure it out!), low range, and 180kwh battery.
I don't care how they do it DM/TM/QM as long as it is 800+hp.
800V charging

Captain Chairs.
Yes
More flexible 2nd and 3rd row seating with improved 3rd row access.
Agreed, maybe move cab forward to add legroom.
Longer wheelbase. Give the R1S the same wheelbase as the R1T for improved towing and more storage behind the 3rd row.
Just add an XL version with the added modules for more versatility.
Removable top and doors, which they did a patent on removable roof recently
Yes, well I suppose the glass roof is removable, easy fix.
So yeah, dual charge ports, one on each side. Makes perfect sense to me. You heard it here first.
I like it.
Solid State Battery, weight reduction by 1000 lbs, new outer mold line with better aero,
I am with you, with improved payload, handling & range.
The front end is too bulbous.

Gen3 Wishlist

* 800v architecture (hell by the time gen3 comes might as well skip and go to 1,200v)
* Rear sets that fold up and back to have a solid flat floor. (My dogs and I miss this from my previous RAM) Get rid of that silly storage underneath. I have my frunk, gear tunnel, and trunk if I need to stuff something somewhere.
* Hands free driving in 95% of roads/conditions
* HUD
* bigger air compressor for the suspension
* better AC (no more vibrations in the wheel or pedals)
* better tail gate design (that top plastic piece though)
* rear steering
* MOAR RAN locations
* park and auto plug ability (am I peasant? I don't want to remember what it's like to own an ICE vehicle and pretend to be "fueling" up with gas)
* Biometric key(s)(fingerprint/face) for door locks and drive (auto switches to that drivers profile)

* Roof glass panels removable. Let's bring back the T tops
* camp speaker trade in program for gen 1
* apparently ChatGPT thinks the windshield and gear tunnel doors should also be detachable
* ability to jump a puddle

Not really interested in a gen3 R1. Would be happy to buy an R2T or even R3T though. I am done with full size trucks.

I hope Gen 3 will have a redesigned dashboard with a top surface that has more structural integrity than wet cardboard, better vent placement, and at least one glovebox.

Its body is as wide as a full size truck @ 79 inches. Same as the F150.

What is the deal with people and the removed doors???

Just last week, I drove by a guy putting the door back on, on his Bronco. I though, as I drove by, whot a pain in the arse.

And in the bottom image (btw, nice photoshop/AI images) no windshield either. Again, why? Bugs in your face??

Why not just ride a motorcycle???

Hopefully, Rivian is focused 100% on R2/R3 product lines and not waste any time on R1 for the next couple of years.

From Edmunds (with mirrors — I like mirrors)

Ford F150 / 5.5’ bed: 232” long x 96” wide
R1T / 4.5’ bed: 217“ long x 88” wide

No way an F150 fits in my garage but the R1T fits just fine and it tows my 28’ Airstream.

That dimension is with the mirrors which are never really an issue for me anyway. Even the R1T is too long to fit in my garage. Its size is more of a liability than an asset where I am. I can always "fit" the truck into a spot, but it is subject to door dings a lot more than a narrower vehicle - that is if you can open your door at all.

Anyway, this sidebar is now hijacking the thread as it's not really related to the upcoming models, but my point was that I wish Rivian would pursue a smaller truck based on their upcoming smaller platforms vs. a major redesign of the R1T. The midsize and compact truck markets are void of any EVs.

The refresh on the R1 better not happen until after full profitability. They should continue to improve weak spots on the existing line. The half-shafts are notoriously problematic right now.
