Ours did that also when we first bought the car. Make a ticket for it. It's the sensor in the frunk, which is messed up. It's thinking someone is there, when there isn't. Rivian will just replace it and it will work fine after that.

Its funny because it worked for the last 6 months without issue. They did just install a new windshield due to whistling so I bet it got out of whack from that.

Actually, I had this kinda problem not long ago, and it was just a misalignment thing. Luckily, my technician was able to sort it out quickly. So, if you suspect misalignment might be the culprit, it's definitely worth getting it checked out. A skilled technician should be able to pinpoint the problem and have it fixed in no time. Also, you may think about recalibrating the latch system.

My Hood stopped working today. It won't close on its own. it keep reopening itself. Scheduled a service visit.

I had this happen as well, but it ended up being a loose ground wire. Also caused some other oddities, like the wipers to not shut off and the outlets to cycle rapidly between "off" and "on".

Our R1S wouldn't go anywhere, for safety reasons, when the frunk wouldn't close. Service ran me through multiple steps including: (1) Use the center console menus (I think it's Vehicle --> Access) to turn off power frunk operation. (2) Push on all the horizontal panels under the frunk hood and surrounding the frunk cavity, looking for one that may have loosened from its clip.

It was scary to be stranded at home, but the problem was 100% solved -- within only 30 minutes after I noticed it.

I've been very satisfied overall, with Rivian's response to problems when the problems are reported to Service. Your mileage may vary.

Very best wishes!
