I have been pleasantly surprised with the Rivian's onscreen garage door opener system. I have been able to program my gate and 7 different garage doors into the system. This is really nice as in my Silverado I have to carry two separate three button remotes to supplement the three button Home Link system provided by Chevrolet. It sure is nice to have it all built in, I can even program four more remotes if I should ever need them.

What type of gate opener is yours? Mine has not worked so far so I’m hoping to either change the opener or figure out what I can do to get it to work. Some people have had issues with the OEM garage door opener remotes not learning for the rivian, so I’m wondering if maybe it’s that.

My gate remote is one of the very old types with the ten dip switches inside. It paired on the first try following the Rivian Owner Manual instructions. I have also paired eight different garage door openers (of various vintages) with the R1T.

It's great that Rivian will program so many openers. In my Silverado I have the three Home Link OEM buttons plus two three button Chamberlain remotes clipped to the visor.

I wish that if you only have one garage programmed you wouldn't have to tap two times to open it. Use my remote opener is faster, unfortunately :(

I'm sure they will add GPS based garage open/close in future. Requires location awareness and a bit of code for safety/distance measuring.

Just tapping the opener icon if only one opener is programmed would be FANTASTIC!

I know some folks like the location-based auto open and close but with two people using a 2-car garage there are plenty of times that would be undesirable for me.

Here’s hoping that a location based/gps based garage door opening function is not triggered every time the phone or fob wakes the car. That would be an additional nightmare!

I don't need location based as well, just one tap would be nice. I just now got around to programming it today and was surprised that two taps was the functionality.

If they implement it like Tesla did it pops up before it opens and allows for you to cancel for the times you do not want it.

I really hope it is part of the big summer/fall release they supposedly are planning.

Does not work with Linear, tried 50 times!! Over it!!
I have a Linear garage door with rolling codes. It took me a while to get it to work. I finally tried holding the remote button down for about 5 seconds next to the mirror before pressing the
Pair button on the screen. After two or three failed attempts, it finally worked. Pressing Pair and then the remote never worked, so try it in this order with a delay of about 5 seconds.
