I have the sunshade, it works but it’s bulky and there is absolutely nowhere to put it. It goes to the back floorboard, then gear tunnel when the kids get in and I usually forget about it for a while. It works better in the Texas sun than others I tried.

I also have the first gen TWraps organizer, one of the best things I’ve spent money on even if printed and rough around the edges ?
That's pretty much what I do with the sunshade, 2nd row floor or gear tunnel or frunk whenever there are passengers. Same thing I did with cheap ones I tried for the T and previous cars. Other than tinting the windshield, there is just no 100% perfect solution.

Honestly, $125 is nothing for OEM. As long as it is good quality.

I don’t know when you got ours, but judging by the price - a long time ago as the price has been $25 for quite a while. I’ve made enormous improvements in both quality and design since. We now make them with carbon fiber infused abs. Here is completely unedited photo, leather inserts not in yet.
Not saying anything against Rivian’s, just saying that the quality now is not like the quality a year ago.

This type of organizer trays are fine if you don't use or need the full storage space below. I had one from Abstract Ocean and what I noticed is that it pretty much rendered the space below useless—because if I used the space and need to access it, it's not convenient to lift the whole tray out (and risk dumping and scattering all of its contents in the process). It's that extra yard to the finish line that's missing from most aftermarket solutions. This, homegrown solution, is the first I've seen to exhibit that extra yard thinking: https://www.rivianforums.com/forum/...nizer-tray-3d-print-your-own-stl-files.39285/. And "bravo!", to @raylepper

This slidable console is a really nice idea indeed!

You never bought products from a premium brand? High markups are common.

just some old anecdotal thoughts on this from 45-50 years ago working at a well know American made motorcycle dealership
  • remember the 20% down payment requirement on most vehicles - because the banks wouldn't/couldn't finance anything over dealer cost and the dealer target mark-up was 20%
  • factory accessories had a MSRP of double the cost - factory was trying to help the dealers make money by setting the retail price
  • after market accessories were less expensive cost but also the MSRP was a lower percentage - part of the "less expensive" was on the dealer to lose profit

I bought one using my referral points, so it doesn't sting as bad. I've used the sunshade once and quickly realized what a PIA it is to remove my radar detector and fastrak responder each time I want to put up the sunshade.
Good option i have used on my BMWs is here. Not cheap but works well...https://stealth-mount.com/

Not comparing it to the Rivian one, as your model is the only one I have.

That said, I would not buy it again. Mine keeps falling into the center console, and getting stuck/wedged. Took me 25 minutes last Friday to get it unstuck.

That has also been addressed with the addition of rear “pins” to hold it, about a month or so ago.

Extremely happy with this one in “Grey Safeguard” option. I’d say the build quality is as close as it gets to OEM Rivian

Edit: states that it does not fit 2025 R1, but I can confirm that it does indeed.
Very helpful, thank you. I’m considering ordering the sun shade from Amazon you have…and I have the gen 2 (2025) R1T. To confirm, you say it fits well? You just unfold, put in place, secure at the top with the visors, and it’s a snug and thorough fit?

It fits well and holds with the visors. I wouldn’t say snug, 100% fitment, but works well. I’d say around the rear view mount there’s a little bit of space, maybe 1/2inch around

I've had sunshades in past vehicles and there's always the issue of where to put the bloody thing when you're driving, and then have to remember to install and remove it every time you enter/exit the vehicle. Additionally there's that HUGE glass roof up there.

As an alternative this time around I had the front window tinted with the lightest ceramic tint available. This blocks UV and rejects heat while the truck is being driven or not. I did not tint the roof as I've heard mixed reviews however, it's nice that this option is no fuss while reducing the AC load while driving in the summer.
