Hello,
My wife and I are not tall people. Even when our R1T is kneeled, she has trouble getting into the truck. The location of the existing grab handle isn't very helpful for this. On the driver's side, there is the steering wheel that I use to grab and pull myself up to the seat which is lowered to its entry exit height. Has any one considered or installed an additional grab handle on the passenger side A-pillar? That would seem to be an ideal position to for her to grab when trying to pull herself up to the seat.
Looking at the air bag locations, the Roof rail airbag inflator looks like it is farther back on the roof rail and not impacting the A-pillar. So, maybe that A-pillar would be available for such a custom modification install.

Anybody checked this out or implemented this modification?
Thanks and best,
Bob

Not gonna happen. There 100% is an airbag in there.

I'd recommend a set of rock sliders or running boards.

I wonder if there would be room on top of the dash over where the Front passenger airbag inflator is located.

Yep. Thought about that. Still there would really like to be something to grab onto while making that move. Not mentioned, but we have to consider that my wife is 78 and recovering from medical issues.

I understand what you mean. Through my business I purchased Toyota Landcruisers as my company vehicle. Everyone had the pillar grab on passenger side. Wife loved it/ wishes for it in my truck. How can Toyota make it work and Rivian can’t? The LC is bomb proof & safe. Go figure.

Doesn't mean they couldn't put one. Plenty of "big trucks" have them. Usually molded in as part of the pillar, but a couple have them bolted. Something like this:

As far as adding one aftermarket for Rivian, that's a whole lot more difficult. But maybe someone smarter than me can figure it out. 😆

I always have to get in on the drivers side first and hold my hand out across from my lady to use to pull herself in. If we can not get something on the A Pillar, maybe someone can make a grab handle that goes between the passenger seat and the center console? At least it is something to use to pull them across the seat.

IMO big miss by Rivian not putting a grab handle on the a-pillar. Seems like they went with form over function on that design choice. The roofline grab handle is basically useless (awkward at best) for ingress or egress. When you're offroading and at high or highest height its even worse.

FYI, I approached Rivian as well as EV Sportline with this issue and request. They both said they would look into it.

FYI, I sent the question and request to both Rivian and EV Sportsline and heard back. Both said they would look into it. Not holding my breath, but hoping . . .
