Gen 1 Key Card not compatable with Gen 2

So I think we all expected the Gen1 FOB to not be compatible, I pick up my gen 2 replacement tomorrow and I was told that not even the key cards are compatible from my old gen1.

Anyone else experienced something different from a SC?

I suspect this is not a difference in tech, but rather an arbitrary limitation. The printing on the cards is slightly different between generations because you tap on the center console in Gen 2. So I suspect they're just arbitrarily limiting that so people don't get confused if a card has the wrong thing printed on it

At my pickup appointment I was told the cards have been improved upon and will not work.....but I have a new ride at least...
