Gen 2 Rivian Premium and the Gen 1 Elevation don’t sound the same. I’ve heard from both, so I wouldn’t expect the EQ to be the same either.

I really think the Gen 2 audio will be fine tuned in future updates
Yeah, I tried SuperFluid’s settings and it definitely didn’t go in the right direction. Really hoping Gen 2 not being tuned yet is the case but trying not to get my hopes up. The release notes for Gen 2 did specifically mention sound that will “get better over time” so we’ll see.

Please.. don’t give me hope…

Drove my wife’s X5 for the first time in a while with the middle range Harmon Kardon and was just pleased with the standard, non-peaky, unmuffled sound that came from all directions, not just the center speaker. RIVIAN! You’re better than this! Please fix it.

I’m almost thinking we all need to start submitting service tickets for this in order for Rivian to take it seriously. A $300 soundbar from Walmart sounds better than the $2k premium audio upgrade we all paid for.

My service appointment is today. I plan to sit him in the Tesla first. Then play the same songs in the Rivian. I’ll post here on how it goes.

Another few hours messing with the eq and I don’t ever get too far away from what I posted earlier. The most frustrating thing about the system is that it feels like it is one eq adjustment from being spectacular.

Keep up posted! It’s my one complaint on the R1S Gen 2. They fix the audio it’s a fantastic vehicle.

So following up on my service appointment over the weekend, but some background first: I have a Tesla Model 3 to which I'm comparing the sound. My Rivian is a 2025 R1S with "premium" sound.

The service tech was great and made a sincere effort to fix the problem. He did not show an interest in comparing the sound to my Model 3, despite several efforts. He ran a diagnostic that showed an "error code" with my amplifier. He communicated with another tech at Rivian who recommended replacing the amp, which he did. After performing the update and resetting the system, I can report that the sound is not much better. I do notice more sound coming out of the driver's side speakers (before it felt like my ear on that side was going deaf). Other than that unfortunately the overall sound is still substandard --- with dolby atmos off (with it on is even worse).

How did I make this assessment? My family and I spent the weekend out of town with the Rivian. We spent ample time on our road trip listening to music. I will admit that I started to "get used to" the system -- there are some songs that just sound better than others for some reason. Still, there are plenty of songs that when I listen to them, I'm literally making an "ew" facial expression. Finally after returning home, I hopped back into my Tesla and listened to many of the same songs. It's not even a competition to be honest -- my Rivian's system is a joke compared to my Tesla.

Glad I found this thread. Picked up my Gen 2 R1S Friday and felt like my left ear was clogged from delivery to home. I tried the Gen1 EQ settings, and it sounded pretty poor - not the same by any stretch of the imagination from a settings standpoint. Mids were over-bearing, no highs, little to no lows, and the front left speakers soundstage is over the center console, not in the drivers position (or the volume on these channels are too low). I hope to see an update addressing this soon on the Gen2 R1S...

Gen 2 Rivian Premium and the Gen 1 Elevation don’t sound the same. I’ve heard from both, so I wouldn’t expect the EQ to be the same either.

I really think the Gen 2 audio will be fine tuned in future updates

Am I going crazy? Or am I going deaf? Over these last few days I find the sound is getting better- maybe the speakers are breaking in. My EQ has also changed a lot.. looks a lot more like this now.

Rivian R1T R1S Gen 2 Premium Sound EQ - Post Your Settings IMG_1057

Which is pretty darn close to the Gen 1 EQ posted earlier.

Anyone experiencing something similar? o_O

Picked up my R1S on Saturday with Premium Sound and music sounds terrible. Rivian really needs to work on this.

I’ve been playing with my EQ for a solid week now and can’t seem to get this system to sound the way I want it. Some tracks sound great, some tracks sound horrible. The bass and trebles are really strong but the midrange… I don’t even know. I realize there is a lot of variation between all the different systems out there so I was hoping we could narrow it down- if you have a Gen 2 Premium Sound system and have the EQ set to your liking, I’d love to see it. Maybe between our collective data we can get an EQ setting that sounds really good.

I’ll go first…

I tried these settings and it sounds much much better. Thank you.

Similar issues here. Muddy sound quality, non-immersive, wildly different music quality from track to track. Appointment early in October — fingers crossed!

Brand new R1S Gen2 (premium sound) owner here. @Spamthechans first curve is a real game changer for me - something still sounds a bit off or overly compressed on Dolby Atoms tracks in Apple Music, but the improvement is night and day. Hats off to ya! The speaker break-in phenomena is an interesting theory - will see how this changes over time.
