since I’ve never had a car with blind spot cameras, it already seems cutting edge to me. Like you said, there’s still plenty enough resolution to make out a vehicle in your blind spot regardless of how blurry and distorted the image quality is.
The blind spot camera resolution isn’t necessarily the issue but I’d take more. My main issue with it is that it doesn’t capture a wide enough view. The ‘Honda Sensing’ passenger side blind spot camera my 2016 Civic had was better so that was a bit of a letdown from a car that cost 4.7x more.

Spending a little more time back in my own vehicle, I feel like I need to ammend my comment about the rumbly gen 2 heat pump vs the silent gen 1 heater.

As part of my SC appointment, they moved the HVAC refrigerant lines so they are no longer in contact with the bulkhead. Details HERE. But now the heat pump is almost inaudible. If you turn off the radio you can barely hear it in the background. You can still very much feel vibrating it in the steering wheel and pedals. But very, very much less noise on the inside of the cabin. So it appears the rumbliness is not "normal" for gen 2. Though enough people have complained about it that I suspect it's a relatively widespread issue.

The 2025 Dual I demo’d had an absolutely deafening heat pump. It was so loud I could barely hear the sound system. I had heard there was a fix so glad they are successfully performing it for people with that issue.

Yeah, there's a whole lot of somewhat conflicting and anecdotal talk about this. From the outside, I would say there's little to no change in mine. I wouldn't say that it's loud, but it's certainly not silent either. (Also worth noting that it seems to run a little bit harder when it's preconditioning versus actually driving)

Talking with the service center folks, it didn't seem like my particular issue was not covered by a tsb. My complaint was that it sounded like there was something rattling in the dash, and they were just poking around and found what they thought maybe could be causing that rattle. In this case the refrigerant lines touching the bulkhead.

But yeah, good to know that there is a solution that's easy.

Nice writeup. I don't care about my louder tire noises but the suspension and panel clunks on my 23 Launch edition drive me nuts. So does the dash rattle that they replaced but still rattles.

I am very surprised you like your auto clutch? I would hate to not have the choice to ride with 4wd in all purpose and get 4 wheel regen. I never ride in conserve unless on a flat long road trip. Here in the Rocky's you will get worse efficiency going up and worse Regen down not to mention premature tire wear. Most of the dual motor efficiency in range comes from the fact that the quad was EPAd in all purpose with all 4 motors and the dual was essentially in conserve mode equivalency.

The Driver+ is frustrating for gen1 because it has the capability to work just fine, they just clearly don't want to develop for a third party systems and only improve gen2...and they used terrible cameras with specs from early development...where my 2021 Hyundai Palisade cameras are superior.

Cool to hear about differences though and I appreciate the time.

Yes I was shocked as I paid 75k for my quad Gen1 R1T in 2022 and could not get equivalent Gen2 with the same features for under 100k

Similar situation happened when I bought by Tesla X for 75k in 2017 and the price kept going well over 100k in 2021. Now they are new at 85k (they just increased them by 5k).
Yeah I paid 73k for my 23 launch edition R1T in launch green with free Off road package and free Ocean Coast interior. Heck I probably won't get another Rivian because the value to me at 73k is hard to be at peace with. I'm very interested to see what scout ends up actually costing.

One thing to point out here is the clutch is VERY different from the OG quad. The engagement is very smooth and fast. Most dual motor owners don't even know it's a thing. My first time in the quad, it kind of scared me because of how jarring the clutch was.

In gen 2 (and dual) you can still lock into AWD by using snow or sport (or all purpose on the tri)

I had 2 reasons I was missing the auto disconnect
1) it was annoying to switch to conserve mode every time I was cruising down the freeway. It improved efficiency a bit, but not life changing
2) a couple of times I forgot I was in conserve and got myself into uncomfortable situations because I had no power. Would have been nice to have more power automatically kick in

gen 1 quad has in the past also had problems with the Utah HOV lane lines. Haven’t tried it recently but it used to be super annoying. Also the AT tires will be noisy regardless of vehicle. OEM tires become especially noisy as they begin to wear down. Finally, conserve mode has been deemed a front tire killer in Gen 1 and most drivers have been recommended to stay in All Purpose or Sport unless driving roughly the same speed on the freeway.
