That's not a great look in a promo video. Mine sticks out a little far, but nowhere near that far.

Hitting the speed limiter before the end of the 1/4 mile and losing to a dual motor lucid is embarrassing…Why not set the limit on the quad to what can entirely be achieved in the quarter mile?
Yeah, with the 22" Super Sport wheels and Michelin Pilot Sport 5s that are rated for at least 168 MPH, Rivian really should unlock a top speed that it's still accelerating at the 1/4 mile, since the Quad with that wheel/tire combo actually will see some track use.

I mean, I'm someone who thinks no car sold in the US should even be capable of 100 MPH except in special track modes; but if you're making a vehicle that has a literal track mode, and most launch reviews show it on a track, including your own company-sponsored special track day with heated tires and sticky-prepared track, it darn well should be capable of maintaining acceleration past 1/4 mile.

Agreed, especially if they are isolating it to the launch mode which has to be activated from a stop and takes a couple seconds to actually initiate. It's just pretty lame and I don't think they will be selling as many of these as they anticipated at the current configuration. I thought the whole point of launch mode was to be able to unlock the full potential during a 1/4 mile time? It raised the limit from 112 to 130 and that allowed the tri motor to get a better 1/4 mile time but it's still limiting the quad. Why would you even buy the quad at nearly 20k more if it's basically very very marginally better than the tri?

But it has tank turn now!

/s

Yeah, Quad is pure "bragging rights vehicle". Which, more power to you if you can do it. But it's definitely not a vehicle that offers "value for money".

I believe that's what the target demographic is, however, it's a flop on performance if it gets speed limited before even reaching a 1/4 mile. They are being overly cautious with that speed cap and I would absolutely not throw down 140k after taxes for something that's being neutered by software. The launch green is also hideous, the teal accents don't go with any of the colors outside of the Storm Blue...Oh well they will flounder for a while until R2 is released. I just hope there is more thought put into the performance variant of the R2 than there was for the R1.

The NACS fanboys claim faster charging. This is how it’s done: air flow keeping that port nice and cool. /s
That does bring up an interesting point - I wonder if the NACS-native support >500A?
