I played with the Halloween themes in my Gen1 R1T last night. It was fun for about a minute, then I realized it wasn’t turning off when I walked away. I could see the light bar flashing green from inside my house and when I approached without my phone or key fob I could hear spooky music and see the Back to the Future theme playing on the dash screen. Before I went to bed I plugged the vehicle in to the charger as it was down to 30% and still was playing the theme. This morning it was still playing the theme and there was a large wet spot under the truck and it was dripping fluid, about a drop per second from the driver side under tray, around where the drivers feet would be. I assume it was condensation from running the a/c all night.

I moved the vehicle and did an infotainment reset. It’s still doing the Halloween owl hooting, but no longer playing the Halloween theme on the dash and the dripping has stopped.

I credit Rivian for trying to be fun, but thumbs down for releasing a software update without fully vetting it. I’m not a software engineer, but I could have told you in 5 minutes that the Halloween theme had issues by not turning off. And the worst thing is the only way to disable it is an infotainment system reset.

My 2c: Although it’s tempting, don’t select the Halloween themes!

Did you deactivate it from the phone? It won't automatically deactivate unless you put the vehicle into drive.

You need to turn the theme off from the app when you are done using it.

My assumption is that the themes were intended to be left on for extended periods, to entertain trick-or-treaters or Halloween party-goers for example, and not turn off automatically when the vehicle is parked . Think of it as a themed version of "Show and Tell" mode. As others have indicated, it must explicitly be turned both on and off from the phone app.

Yeah this is intentional - it's meant to leave on for extended periods (for example at a trunk or treat party).

You're supposed to turn it off with the app

The lock sounds don't change when turning off a costume. This is set in the System Settings.

It’s not clear to me how to turn it off with the app, and I’m not messing with it anymore.

It's quite literally the same 'button' you use to turn it on...

And you can always turn it off by pressing the brake in the vehicle.

To be fair, I do not find any guidance from Rivian stating one must turn off the theme or it remains activated. Yes, some may say, there are only 2 options, on and off, so guess what happens when you select one.

I admit to having left it on. I did not post a complaint since I figured out my mistake. It's either on or off. So I went into the app and slid the bar to off.

In any case, this topic has been discussed in various threads, many days before this rant. A rant with some spacing, paragraphs...thx.
