Would like to see the same. Glove box is a little tight. I also haven't found a comfortable place to mount a handgun that's readily accessible and out of sight. My previous truck had a large center console, so I had a magnet mount down at my right knee which made it easy to access and hidden under the dash and out of sight. Since the Rivian is all open in the center I lose that area to mount anything out of sight.
Yeah, following too. Hoping one day for that camp speaker safe type replacement. If want it accessible, I clip my holster clipped on the front left door holder area, and can reach with left hand. It's not very visible overall unless really looking for it. But of course it would be if ever used a valet or something - would need to remove.
I think a side desk mount mounted in the center console would be only viable option. I would also expect them to add some sort of PIN security to the center console which makes it even better for gun storage...otherwise the electronic latching system is just pure over engineering.
Any update on this one? I have CCW and i'm required to have my fingerprint vault secured with a security cable. I had it behind the passenger seat on my Model S but the R1T doesn’t even have one little whole there to secure it. Might have to drill
The LATCH anchors under the rear seat have a metal panel over the screws, so they look like a pretty good tether point. A cable looped through one to a box stored under the rear seat is not visible when the seat is down.
So I thought the Camp Speaker location would be great too. Mostly because I did not want to drill through a wire (or into the battery) mounting a vault in the center console and did not want it to interfere with the USB outlets.
I tried EV Sportline's locking drawer. Team 1EV Camp Speaker Replacement Locking Gun & Valuables Steel Vault - EV Sportline - The Leader in Electric Vehicle Accessories Would not recommend. First the cable thickness can be cut through with a pair of dykes. Second is the key I now have to find (I like the fact I don't have to dig out my keys to open and start the R1T) and insert. Third...it doesn't actually lock int he drawer since the truck doesn't recognize it is there. I saw a Chinese competitor that said theirs has a chip so the truck would recognize it but I don't buy stuff from TEMU.
Anyone done the vault?
