Good lord what a terrible company. The SUV version of the same vehicle is insurable but the truck is “exotic”? They are clueless.

I think different states have laws that make different vehicles a bad choice for different policy types. Sounds confusing but the profit/loss issues for Ins. companies is the formula that we do not see. I think some brokers do not want to limit the different policy inclusions that are higher risk in that state so they just say no to any policy for a given vehicle,
Just consider that this is not about you, it's about them.

I called the Hartford again this a.m. and asked about an R1S, and they won't do it either. Our son who is in the insurance business said he had heard something about the Hartford "tightening up" what they would insure. Time to switch, obviously.

When I got my R1 S, I contacted Rivian to see what their insurance quote through nationwide. It turned out that nationwide premium was higher than what AAA was going to charge me for the exact same coverage at 500,000 500,000. So I stuck with AAA and I’m paying $3100 a year for full coverage, which is actually similar to what my Tesla model X would run. So the Tesla is insured through Tesla and now ant about $2250 a year. Good luck finding reasonable rates. The one thing that I dislike about all the auto insurance companies is that they only will write a policy for six months at a time and you’re guaranteed that the premium will go up every six months. If you can find an insurance company that will write a one-year policy. I think you’ll save money overall Compared to a six month policy.

Obviously not a daily driver insurance, but Hagerty does write 1 year policies. I insure two cars using them. But even if we met mileage limits, the restrictions on driving / use wouldn't work out. We only put 9k miles combined on all four of our vehicles last year, with two of them considered daily drivers. I did drive an additional 40k miles in my City ride.

This whole tread got me shopping, since my renewal with Connect/ Costco is due next month. Last year our policy was $650 with three full coverage car. Then we got the R1S and sold two cars, leaving us with the R1S and a 2018 F150. That bumped it up to $800 form6 months. The renewal just came in and now we are $1000 for six months. I tried a quick quote with Farmers (home owners policy) and it put me at $2000 for 6 months... crazy

I got some widely varying quotes; Progressive was really inexpensive, particularly when using their $500,000 combined single limit liability and $2K deductible. USAA, if you're eligible (I'm not a vet but my father was, and used them), was pricey but I've been told excellent service.

Progressive quoted $475 /6 mos for R1T, 2019 Forester and 1982 Chev K10, $500K CSL (Combined single liability) + $500K combined UM/UIM + $2K deductible; 2 drivers, 15K miles/yr

USAA was $1442 for roughly the same coverage but their max deductible is $1K, unfortunately. They don't have CSL so it was $500K/$500K/$100K.

The most horrifying thing about AARP is that they are selling concert tickets to the (last) Rolling Stones tour.

Breaking the TicketMaster oligopoly with GeezerMaster.
