Does anyone have issues with their headlights? Mine are incredibly dim. But they occasionally kick into high beam. It's scary.

When you say "kick into high beam" is this something other than the Auth High Beam feature activating?

I don't know enough about them at this point. All I know is that they're incredibly dim. Maybe I'm missing a setting??

Mine are definitely not dim.

What i was commenting on was you saying
But they occasionally kick into high beam.
Rivian (like a lot of cars) has a feature where at night if it doesn't detect oncoming headlights or tail lights in front of you it will automatically turn on the high beams. you set this with the headlight switch (the back one) on the left stalk.

That might be why they are kicking in, not sure why they are dim.

The only way they could ever be considered dim is if they are off... I've had people complain they are too bright in broad daylight...

Please forgive me if you already checked this. I see a lot of people driving at night with only daytime running lights on so I figured it was worth asking: Are you 100% sure that your headlights are on and you aren’t relying on just the daytime running lights or parking lights?

Not mine. It was scary on my first night drive. I've since reached out to my guide. It's cool, it's fast, but I was fooling myself thinking that I'd get one w/o issues.

No, I'm not 100% sure. I've been super busy with work and haven't had time to really study it. Perhaps you can enlighten me? It's really weird because the lights are super dim, then they suddenly get really bright...but just for a few seconds, then they get dim again.

More details in the owner's guide here, but try double checking the above first.

I don’t have a Rivian yet, so I don’t have personal experience. If you open the manual here https://assets.rivian.com/2md5qhoea...478360af8/r1t-owners-guide-en-us-20220725.pdf

The lighting information is on pages 46-50 with the most important part on page 50. You want to make sure the lights aren’t set to Parking Lights.

You should snap a night pic of your front end while the car is on in your driveway. Sounds like you're just driving with your drl at night. Just takes a few finger flicks on the headlight stalk to cycle through all the lighting options.

Yeah I agree I’d try to snap a picture of them at night. Mine are insanely bright and I can see pretty much everything. I’ve never had a vehicle with this bright of headlights before and I’ve had numerous HID equipped vehicles

All the lights are so bright in fact that I got my first complaint the other day that the rear fog lights were somewhat blinding to those driving behind you...something to keep in mind.

Tailgating detergent? ?
