Help diagnose: console rattling in Gen 2 R1S

Hi everyone, I picked up a Gen 2 R1S last month and it’s built like a tank and has been surprisingly quiet. Because of that, the only noise I hear is a fairly consistent rattling from the center console area, obviously more prominent on buzzy or rougher roads, although the road I’m on in the video is a normal neighborhood street. I’ve taken the 3rd party tray out along with any extraneous items in the console without any change in the noise. I’ve tried pushing down on different areas and that didn’t help — it did help me realize that the console is also really solid and not flexy at all!

Anyway if anyone is bored, please have a look at the short video (truth be told the noise is fairly amplified in the video). Have anny/all of you have dealt with this?

That sounds weird. I drove a Gen2 R1S last week and it did not make that sound. I’d suggest sending that video in with your service request.

Yep, the one thing in an otherwise amazing driving experience so far!

Try buying the small self adhesive rubber bumpers for cabinet doors but smaller, Amazon do a mixed size pack. Look for the contact points where the lid(s) sit and put a small bumper there, it puts a bit of tension into the lids when closed. I did this on my R1S LE and it stopped all noise plus the bumpers just peel off if it doesn’t work.
