maybe 10 years - I put on a max of 3K miles a year, so seems pretty easy to get there.

I have a 23 R1S that I love everything about but the charging rate. I plan on keeping it till my Scout order is fulfilled, so 2027-28

R1T preorder
I absolutely love my Gen 1 R1T. We have 68k miles on it. We're also planning on getting an R2 - it is more suited to our use case. Urban driving mostly.

I'd love to keep the truck too, but have concerns mostly around the air suspension.Does anyone share those concerns or any others that would affect longevity?
Me (in the photo of this post) plan to keep my beloved Stone at least until the battery/motor warranty is up. Still love the truck as much as I did back then (October 2022 that picture was taking when I purchased my truck from a flip in Michigan).

Rivian R1T R1S How long do you plan to keep your current Rivian? IMG_0367

I should add that we don't need two vehicles. That probably answers my question. We're definitely getting an R2...since we only need one vehicle...I'm not able to drive right now and may not be able to in the future. Hanging on to the truck doesn't make much sense. As much as I like it. I really need a version to come that has real self driving capabilities! I'll be waiting for awhile.
If you are serious about. Reading self-driving, then R2 or a later generation is essential. Only these newer generation Rivians will have Lidar and computers needed for true self driving.

I have a LE RIS and it's one of the first with the Ocean Coast interior (2020 order).

This is the first vehicle I have ever owned where I wasn't shopping for my next car right away. I am now almost at my record for the longest I have kept anything. I wish I had the newer tech, but this thing is so great and I got it so cheap I can't bring myself to get rid of it.

I put down a deposit for R2 and the Scout, but I realistically won't do either for at least another few years.

I just got my R1T in September,( I LOVE IT !! ) I had just turned 64 and decided I was getting too old to wait any longer to consider the R2, although I still have my reservation. My last truck I drove for almost 19 years and 265k miles. I expect the R1T will out last me, I likely will not be even be driving in another 19 years. That said, I may consider getting a new EV when the battery tech - solid state or sodium, or what ever - comes online and has little or no sub zero or freezing range degradation.

I plan on keeping mine 10-15 years. I’m also planning on paying about 5-6k for a lengthy extended warranty.

With this thing as my daily, I can justify a highly depreciated fun sports car in a few more years.
I would say that mirrors my plan as well.

Maybe until the battery and motor warranty is up.

I gen 1 (really Gen 1.5) that I got at preorder pricing, it's been about 20 months of ownership and 19K miles. Unless R2 Gen 2 (w/ Gen 3 HW and Lidar) price vs trade-in value on this is very close, i plan to keep this R1 for a minimum of 6 more years, thru the warranty period and hopefully beyond.

It's not sustainable or financially responsible to swap out cars every few years.

They just replaced my air compressor (which seemed to be working fine) as well as the front and rear dampers for free after a comprehensive inspection. I think for the most part the R1T is bullet-proof and should easily keep me happy for a decade. I have heard on this site that Rivian replaced someones failed AC at 80K, out of warranty, for free. Does everyone think the extended warranty is worth it or roll the dice and hope Rivian continues to keep the original R1 owners happy so they stay with Rivian for their next purchase?

I still have my 2008 f250 and my 2013 Volt. I've had the R1t for 1.5 years with zero issues. I'll keep it indefinitely.

My Gen 1 R1T is my first EV. So far, I absolutely love it. It’s a 3 year lease that is up in August ‘27. If they offer a deal that I just can’t pass up, I’ll grab a Gen 2 T. Other than that, I’ll be hoping the R3X is released by the time my lease is up.
R3 wont be out until 2029 at best.
