I got into a low battery situation while towing a UHaul trailer . I unplugged the trailer lights to allow Conserve mode to stretch my range. Conserve mode is not available in towing mode and towing mode is automatic when trailer lights are detected.

This caused a bit of tension with my wife, but she agreed after contemplating the implications of running out of battery.

We made it and were still happily married.

LOL. It was going 80+ mph headed west toward San Diego (roughly sea level to 4200 feet) that got me into trouble in the 1st place. I neglected to remember that the mileage estimate I got from my charge in Yuma (one that ā€˜estimated’ I’d be home in San Diego with 60+ miles to spare) did NOT account for pushing the aerodynamic equivalent of a brick at 80 mph uphill. Well…it WAS our first road trip with the beast. Live & learn (and pay close attention to the admonitions on this forum!!)
I did this drive a bunch in a Tesla. Once, in the middle of winter, I got to the Jacumba exit with -2% battery estimated arrival to the San Diego supercharger (back when there was only one supercharger in San Diego). However, going 65mph downhill the rest of the way, I ended up with 13 miles left on the battery when I arrived in Sorrento Valley.

More recently, I had 50 miles of range left and a 39 mile commute. I did a constant 75 mph and made it to work with 12 miles left in my R1T.

You'd have made it home.

I was going to SD from Phoenix, in my Tesla with a trailer. It was hard on economy. Climbing the pass, it showed that I had 36 miles of range, and 70 miles from a charger. But once I crested the pass, now showing under 30 range, it went to 800 miles of range. It was charging!

In fact my profile photo is in San Diego, getting my new electric motorcycle, which is why I had the trailer.

My experience is that you first put the truck into conserve mode then check the remaining predicted miles left. Always set your destination on the map as that milage indicator has always been more accurate than what the ā€˜gauge’ shows. So far the predicted milage on the map has varied during the trip but has always been within 1 mile when I arrive home. I am confident rolling in on single digits. (So Far)
