Hey! There is something loose inside my driver-side-view mirror. It’s sounds like small screw “dinging” when I shut the door. Does anyone know the procedure to remove just the mirror part off the housing ? I wanna take a look inside.

i do have an upcoming service appointment but I don’t wanna leave my car several days for that if I can fix it myself.

First, take off the interior trim panel inside your car. You’ll need to unscrew some stuff or deal with clips. If your ride has electronic mirror adjustments, you'll have to disconnect the control panel too. Just use a flathead screwdriver or a trim tool to pry it open gently.
Once that interior panel is out of the way, you can get to the mirror housing. Look for screws holding the mirror to the door frame; they're usually Torx or Phillips head screws.
If your side mirror has electronic features, like heating or turn signals, be careful when disconnecting the wiring harness. After you've unscrewed everything and unplugged the wires, you should be able to separate the mirror from its housing. If it's being stubborn, give it a little wiggle or try some penetrating oil. Once the mirror's off, dive in and hopefully sort out the problem.

How to remove a side view camera from your Truck. (universal technique that works in all makes/models/vintages)

Step 1. Give your wife a key.
Step 2. Check the floor of the garage next to the opening once a day.

That's it, unless you are the one guy who's wife can back up a truck without hitting something, eventually you will find the mirror on the ground.

Alternative technique for people who are short on time. Give the keys to your 16yo son, and check once an hour.
