In the middle of a road trip right now in upstate New Hampshire. Got the update the night we arrived and have been running around into rural areas and city areas on the coast. I have to say things are definitely getting better in my opinion on the following

Alexa
We Like Amazon music and today while on the road I thought I would just try it again to see if it would play one of my Amazon playlists. "Alexa, play the <playlist name> on Amazon music and without a beat the assistant found the playlist and started playing. The cover art is fast and looks really good. I didn't even notice until halfway through that particular drive that it was playing Amazon music from the new Alexa app in the Rivian music screen and not from the app on my phone via Bluetooth.

Navigation
whileI still feel Google maps is better with traffic and with showing exactly which lean to be in at all times especially when it comes to merges and forks in the road etc. The navigation is pretty set and I like that I can have it just ding instead of get the full long explanation of the next turn.

range and charging
We had a pretty good experience charging at EA chargers on the way up with one minor hiccup where I had to use a credit card swipe instead of the app on my phone to get it to go. It has been so fun for us to run around and come back to my in-laws and plug in and charge up overnight and have a full pack ready to go the next day for our adventures

Haven't seen any rivians in this area of the country while I see quite a few around Northern Virginia on a regular basis. Definitely getting a lot of looks though and fun to see people taking notice up here.

Going to try a better route planner integration for the trip back in a few days to Virginia.

If you were asking the truck to play using Amazon Music before this upgrade, it wasn't using Bluetooth either. The only difference now is that they have an interface for it in the Music app of the truck. It only used/uses Bluetooth if you used the Amazon Music app on your phone.

The ding vs speech isn’t new it’s been an option since at least September 2022 when I got my truck

Wait, what? There is a dedicated app now?

I think calling it an "app" may be a stretch. It's more like an interface for what was already there.

That's the easiest way. You can also use Bluetooth to stream it from your phone.

Can anyone share screenshots of whatever is new for Amazon Music? The last few updates I got as soon as it was available, seems this release I'm going to have to wait a little longer.

Well, after complaining about not getting the OTA right away... it showed up this afternoon. So here's my screen shot of the new Alexa media app (sorry I didn't bother to clean the screen first). Note the addition of the "Alexa" source on the left panel as well as the somewhat redundant cover art and song title on the left side - including another play/pause button closer to the driver (in case someone prefers the touchscreen over the steering wheel control?). The flyout on the right has been there, at least since I took delivery back in March, but I will say that in my one drive since the update, it seems to be much better about displaying correct song info and music source.

Rivian R1T R1S I have to say, things are getting better... riv_alexa_a

Sorry, just got back from the road trip. I will continue to say that the music integration was really good the entire trip, even when my wife would provide some commands that weren't the smoothest, Alexa responded correctly.

I'm working on a trip report, most of our issues were some GPS range vs Vehicle battery % contradictions.

The navs still needs work especially where traffic backups and alt routes available are involved.
It almost seems like once the nav makes up it's mind.. regardless of new traffic backups ahead that have formed since the route was determined.. it just sticks to that route even though easy, almost traffic free routes are available. If it "sees" (stopped-red on the map) traffic ahead it should start looking at alternate routes and offer them up for consideration. I understand that if it doesn't "see" traffic ahead, it has no reason to offer alternate routes, but when it's clearly visible on the map.. it should start re-planning.
