Timely thread. I just picked up my R1T yesterday in Mahwah, NJ and didn't give the need for PA inspection a thought. It looks like the first step is to get a jack puck, and then look for someplace local (I'm in Delco) to do the inspection.
I used DAvico in Wayne (they have pucks). Quick and painless but you’ll need PA reg first.

Got my R1T recently and need to get it inspected. I still only have the temp plate. Is that enough to get it inspected in PA, or do I need to wait for the actual PA plate and registration? Also, where have people had it done in SE PA? I'm in Bucks county. For my other cars, I would just go to the dealer for the brand and get it done. can't do that with the Rivian.
Unfortunately my repair shop declined the business. Being close to retirement he was not interested in expanding his skillset. He claims there are a few wrinkles in the Pa procedure in that as part of inspection there is a road test and that must be done with regenerative braking off to prove the primary brakes work as intended and in his words everyone of these evs is a learning curve on how to do that as well as the equipment like the pucks to lift them. I understand there is a shop in Wayne Pa close to the rivian SC in Malvern I will search out. Not sure why rivian does not get their Pa inspection license with licensed mechanics

IIRC PA will only let you do inspections if you are open to the public, and can do safety and emissions inspections, which no EV shop will do. Tesla, Lucid and Rivian don't to inspections in PA.

I did get mine inspected once at a trusted little shop in Frazer but he didn't feel comfortable with such a heavy vehicle on his lift, so I didn't take it there again.

Thx. All those little quirks in the laws. I condemned shop in Wayne and one in West Chester so I’ll decide from them
