Going to start wrapping my R1T and was wondering if anyone has instructions or insight to disassembling some things like the front fascia, rear bumper, flares, & lower window moldings. I checked the ideal places and searched this forum a bit but have come up pretty short. Pretty much know how to get the mirrors off and tail lights out is about all I’ve found so far. Any help is greatly appreciated.

IMO not worth disassembling for wrapping as you are likely to cause more damage and the pieces are expensive and hard to come by. The gaps around most of the plastic trim are large enough to tuck the wrap in.

For the rear flares start at the bumper line, there is a plastic clip that needs to be pushed up with a plastic trim tool squeezed between that line once that is loose you can pry most of it off. The rear bumper screw is right behind that flare. You'll also need to remove the 2 rear undertrays. I didn't take the whole bumper off or the whole flare but that should get you enough visibility to get started. Be prepared to document where all the screws are coming out of as there are many different sized ones and also have some spare trim clips.

I'm sure the front is even more involved.

The Rivian-certified collision center that replaced one of my R1S doors had to order trim and a whole host of other parts because he said that Rivian parts are notorious for breaking when attempting to remove them.

The two XPEL professional PPF installers that worked on my cars did not take them apart first. PPF on each is perfectly wrapped around panels, mirror edges, tucked, no disassembly ever required. Even all lights, headlights, turn, rear lenses have PPF on them. Why would you want to take your vehicle apart to do this?

My R1S, besides all body panels and mirrors, has PPF on every single piece of trim also. Only the black sections of bumpers do not have PPF.

Thanks for the heads up. Luckily I’m starting with a black truck so it’s not too bad to have a small amount of paint showing in the gaps but I’d prefer to be covered better and not having trim in the way makes for a bit easier on an install. I guess I’ll see how it goes with trying to pop a flare off and see if it’s worth messing with.

PPF is different than a color change wrap. If there’s es a tiny bit not covered it’s not noticeable but with a color change you’ll see it. PPF is also pre cut patterns that line up nicely on a panel. With wrap it is installed as a stretched sheet that overhangs everywhere and needs to be trimmed on the car.
