What would be cool is automatic settings on vehicle startup such as turn off auto ride height, stability or drive mode. I'm sure winter people would love snow mode that would stick.
Totally doable. You can assign macros to the buttons, or, you can simply set the associated app to start a macro when you get in the car, get to a certain location, or surpass a certain speed.

I’m in. Temp adjust without looking, drive modes without switching screens, always avail audio sources (or better “station” buttons)
All totally doable!

My interest depends on what you could tie the buttons to. Drive modes would be great, as would disabling auto ride height.

I think you can make most locations look better by better integrating the enclosure with the interior instead of having it as a plain box. Sculpting it a bit to fit alongside the left of the screen might be my preference, but a well integrated panel just forward of the charging pads could also look good and would be easily accessible.
There just aren't a lot of great places to mount things due to stark design of the dash. That's why I'm sort of leaning towards something small, portable, and unobtrusive rather than trying to clutter up the clean dash. Totally open to suggestions but doing something super custom would require a lot of time & money to develop. But, would y'all prefer something like the CTRL-BAR?

Strong preference for CTRL-Bar style for me. The more OEM-ish looking the better. A couple of knobs for temps/volumes, and as many customizable function/macro buttons as will fit!

I think that bar looks much better and more integrated. Would be nice to see some other views of it. By molding the enclosure to the contours of the existing interior pieces, a lot of other OEM+ looks come up.

Let's have a race when this comes out. You tell Alexa to turn up the heat, turn down the fan, set the vents in the front, middle, and rear...then set the preferred ride height and close the garage door. I can push one button to do that and it will be done by the time Alexa has told you for the 4th time "I can't help you with that" after asking her to turn up the heat.
Alexa will do all of that eventually. And more. The tech is there. My Teslas do quite a few things through voice commands. Rivian is the laggard, but it has not been around for very long. I say move over the software folks working on that infantile, worthless Rivian mascot, what is its name, Gilbert, whatever, and have them work implementing software features that will benefit us all.

LOL, LOL. That dash is so nasty ugly, so insidious, so ICE. Gave me a good laugh. Thank you!

Is all that already not available?

Not long ago, I had the furtuitous "honor" of driving an ICE Ford Edge. I could not believe the plethora, clusterf of buttons and knobs. The briliant Ford engineers must have had a lot of free time and went all out. The steering wheel alone, it had no more buttons simply because there was no room left for them. In all, I counted FORTY-FIVE knobs and buttons. a true WTF, Ford!?

Butons and knobs will always belong in stupid, dumb cars, i.e., ICE cars. Buttons and knobs are not for smart cars. They are anthitetical to real EVs; they may belong in wannabe EVs and for those who reminisce of such obsolete, garbage "tech." The same ones that perhaps love, miss, and lust for those damn, EV blasphemy key fobs, too.

Yes, I would prefer that bar and would most likely buy it if I could decide what the buttons did.

No one is making you buy them. There are a few things I wouldn't mind a hard button for like opening the frunk or turning on the cooled seat.

Absolutely true. As true as the sun rises, I never, ever, will buy such an "EV" with a full-blown clusterf of ICE buttons. I have moved on. Minimalist approach rules. Hallelujah. Some EV companies like Tesla AND Rivian got it so right and jettisoned this ICE-age mess of buttons and knobs. Stil, those who long for such old things and ways will find "EVs" with such ICE legacy mess because those EV companies simply are stuck in the past just the same.

Choice is great. Dinosaur ones included.
