Good morning

Ok, hopefully not dumb question:

1). If there is LTE in the truck and hotspot, do we have the ability to browse the web from the center screen? I know we do in my Tesla. I am hoping to be able to do stuff like Netflix or other streaming when not driving.

Best

It's a seemingly silly feature, but one I have come to love. Being able to watch shows while eating food or while stuck charging on road trips is quite a nice luxury.

No browser, and no immediate plans for it according to CS, though they didn’t write off the possibility. I’d bet on video being an option before a browser.

Is there even a wi-fi hotspot?

How will I be able to keep RivianForums abreast of my adventures driving my R1T without a browser on the center screen! sounds like something we need to all mention to CS and our guides until it gains some traction.

Not silly at all when you’re driving a vehicle that needs to charge for 40ish minutes at a time on road trips. Perfect for watching an episode or two.

I disagree. It's a major extensibility option that will unlock more ROI than building apps one-by-one. I'm not suggesting it's all roses, definitely a lot of things to work through (including non-sexy stuff like performance and security). I hope they do it, but do it right.

Yes, it uses AT&T. We've had to soft reset the infotainment to enable it. Otherwise, the toggle to enable the hotspot will refuse to stay in the on position. Once enabled, it works as expected.

Rivian won't do CarPlay, so clearly they don't care about giving us easy access to other solutions. If Rivian doesn't build it, you don't get it.

Not saying I agree with that mentality... Just that is their position.

Obviously, I don't know the details of how they got to the decision but my suspicion is that CP/AA are non-starters because they take over everything. Rivian would basically be outsourcing the entire infotainment experience which we know is becoming one of the strongest parts of connecting with your customer. Not only would CP/AA never cater to the unique needs of Rivian, Rivian won't build any customer loyalty/delight. Whereas a browser, could be positioned as just one small part of the bigger "Rivian Experience".
