iOS 26.1 beta 2 has helped a lot for my 17 Pro. Gen 1 R1S unlocks better than iOS26. Still not crazy good like iOS 18. So give the public beta a try. It runs very smoothly and should have been the official release (.1's are always what should have been the official release)

I have noticed differences not only in proximity unlock, but also in the use of my iPhone as a key when I am in the vehicle.

About 20%-25% of the time, my R1S will not recognize my iPhone 17 Pro Max as a key, and I have to stop and restart Bluetooth for it to work. Anyone else seeing this behavior?

It happened to me randomly a few times. Usually I just open or re-open Rivian app in iPhone to solve the problem without touching Bluetooth connection. In general PAAK implementation is a mess. It’s sluggish, random and unpredictable. I did not notice any improvement after 38.30 update. My last resort is always get out phone and open Rivian app to make it work.

Same for me when I am outside. I found when it doesn't recognize my phone as a key, cycling BT usually is fastest.
