I've had my R1T LE since May of 2022 and I'm starting to think about my next vehicle. The Scout with the EREV option is really attractive as I tow a lot and Rivian is awesome but above my budget. I did the initial IPO at $75 a share. I wonder if I can trade in my IPO or just ride it out and buy a scout. Either way I can't seem to stomach a new R1T price but would really want another rivian in the next few years. Having jumped in early and invested I'm one of the early folks that bet hard on Rivian to succeed and continue to want them to but that IPO was overpriced and I'm trying to avoid exiting it at such a large loss.

I can't speak to your investment, but I can assure you the Scout will not be sold at the prices they advertised at launch. And I would be shocked if it was delivered on time... Stellantis just had to delay the RAM EV again (now 2028). This stuff takes time.

Due to the VW backing, I think they're more likely to get this delivered on time than Rivian was. However I totally agree that it won't be sold at the prices promised. .

Scout might start production but the plant will be more valuable to VW and Audi as a US production facility if tariffs stay. The Scout will sell minor numbers as Rivian has shown the market for an expensive truck and SUV is not that larger and Scout is even more focused on off road compared to on road performance which won’t help it.

After seeing how long it took to get the ID.Buzz to market, I have my doubts!

You haven't followed the Harvester information have you? The EREV sounds amazing for towing with an EV, but it reduces the towing capacity to only 5000lbs. Check out the Jay Leno episode with the Scout CEO.

Actually, this is a really novel idea. I would almost consider that if Rivian was that (let's say) adventurous.

Our camper is 3500 lbs so the tow rating is fine.

Ehh... I'd rather get a Silverado RST or Denali. The Harvester is mega nerfed down for performance.

You would be better off getting a 3.0 diesel truck.... carbon emissions won't be much difference.

If you get a chance watch the YouTube video of Jay Leno driving the Scout. I recognize it is just a protype but what a piece of crap. They have lots of work to do.

It's still not really to market.

It's a stop sale until they narrow the seats in the back. Apparently they broke the rules by making them comfortable for Americans. Oops.

If VW uses Scout's plant, I almost guarantee they'll lose the dealer franchise case currently on going in California.
