I can only imagine this is going to annoy Tesla owners as one of the primary reasons people still choose a Tesla over other EV's is because of their charging network. Now, having it occupied by other EV's reduces that exclusivity. Possibly the reduced charging rate is necessary due to the necessary adapter, but otherwise, I would think Tesla would want to get these other EV's in and out as quickly as possible. Certainly a benefit to actual Tesla owners and at the rates they're charging, is a positive money maker for Tesla. Possibly future versions will offer faster charging rates? I just know that if I still had my Tesla and was waiting in line to charge because a Lucid or Mercedes, or worse yet, a 200kwh battery Hummer was sitting there charging at half the rate other EV chargers offer, I'd be pretty annoyed. Sold my last Tesla, so not a personal concern of mine anymore, but can certainly see where it would tick off Tesla owners.

Probably when he gets federal money to do so.
I assume that is the reason he is doing it.
That is likely what it will take. But Tesla did turn down California grant money for this particular launch because they required Credit Card readers and Tesla said "app only". So it's good to see they are launching them in CA despite that.

Yep. If I still owed a Tesla I would be annoyed if I sent to a regular charging spot and suddenly had to wait behind non-teslas. Luckily I no longer own a Tesla.

These are the Supercharger fees for Tesla drivers near me. I'd say the Rivian charge fees are extremely reasonable.
